1LE Rim Replacement
So I was out for a drive the other day and the unthinkable happened. I was making a right from a stop sign, and half-way through the turn, the front end completely broke traction and slid the front passenger side rim right into the curb. This was followed by the rear rim slamming into the curb as well. So far the only thing I can figure is that there must have been some gravel or an oil slip in the road that caused the front tires to break traction. I run summer only tires (MP4S) and it was in the high 70's when this happened around 6:45-7:00 am, I had traction control on and did NOT break the rear end loose in the turn. It was a 90* turn and I couldn't have been going more than 20 mph, I've taken turns that sharp at 35+. So basically I'm looking for two new OEM rims, one for the front (20X10) and one for the rear (20X11). If I can't find them, does anybody know the price to replace these rims from Chevy? You can see where the front rim first made impact, it dented and cracked where it first hit (still somehow keeping a seal and not leaking any air so far). Needless to say...I've had a pretty bad day

That sounds really strange that the front end would break traction before the rear.
This looks to be them. This is a set though. Maybe if you call them they can sell you just 2 wheels. https://wildhammermotorsports.com/ca...eneral-motors/ |

I had to replace 1 front it cost about $800 CAD from a dealer, so should be about 25% less in USD.

The OEM wheels are around $600 each and there is a $50 core charge for each wheel as well.

Would you consider selling the used damaged wheels?

Thank y’all for the feedback, I appreciate it. I suppose I would consider it, but why would you want to buy them? They’re pretty torn up, the back one could probably be salvaged (they’d never get the finish to match the others), but the front has a crack and dent in it (currently still not leaking though)...

Bummer.
You will very likely need an alignment and pay close attention to bent suspension arms and/or shifted subframe. Surprising what forces are involved with a ~4000 pound car. |

Oh it most defiantly needs an alignment. The car wanders back and forth on the road and you have to continuously adjust the wheel to keep it straight, and under acceleration the rear end gets a little squirrley. My hope is that it just knocked the alignment out and nothings damaged...

Man, so sorry to hear.
While not nearly as traumatic as your misfortune, I was driving a mountain road yesterday and it must had had some loose rocks on it. When I went to fill up with gas, I noticed 3 chips that were about 1/4 inch long on my right rear wheel. So bummed. I wonder if the coating on these wheels are that soft.

You or whoever washes your car is using a way to caustic wheel or tire cleaner. You have to be careful not to use cleaners that are meant for bare metal, they will etch paint like that.

Interesting theory... It's just the front wheels. Rears are fine. I have been using Adams Wheel Cleaner since Day 1.
