My 2021 LT1 has illuminated visor mirrors, and the rear finned antenna is body color, I ordered this car, a no option LT1 other than the 10 speed auto. There is no down side and absolutely no need for any SS stuff.

Mine just came with the red calipers and NPP. I passed on a much more decked out LT1.

Gotta love these absolutes being dealt here. "What I want is essential, anything else is a waste of money."

I am certainly not here to straighten anyone out, that would be a blanket statement. Just like saying, "There is no down side and absolutely no need for any SS stuff."
That is a blanket statement and for me there are downsides and some of the SS stuff was needed. |

What I hope to do sometimes is to help those who are asking for help. I may say what I like, but I try to point out the differences in the models so they know what they are buying. I am not sure why I do that except for the check I get from GM every month. So for me and possibly LT4 Camaro we do not intend to road track our Camaros. For us this is our truth: "There is no down side and absolutely no need for any SS stuff." This statement is 100% true for us, but of course that truth will vary across all owners each one having thier own truth. The truth is an elusive beast. Just look at our country. There may be millions of different truths. A truth is an opinion unless you have emperical evidence to prove that truth. We should have better word for a proven truth. We need it.

Well, the guys at Barrett-Jackson get all googley eyed when they see vintage Camaros with no options - if it even has radio and heater delete they can’t stop drooling.
A no power steering, no power brakes, no radio or heater 4 speed ZL1 is like the perfect car. Lighted visor mirrors??? What??? |

Did both front and back calipers come painted? I made a beef with GM about that when I paid the full ss price and only the Brembos came painted. I ended up painting the backs myself.

Just the fronts are painted. The back brakes are the cheaper versions. They had to cut corners like tires and back breaks and a cheaper grill.

And with tires it could keep up with an SS for at least a lap or two on a race track. An Lt1 would do just fine in a beginners track day. But if you want to get more serious than that on a road track, Then get an SS. Plus if you like that it can play nice on a race track and still decide to buy an SS for the status of owning a real track car. That is what you should do. On the street the LT1 with tires is every bit as much fun as an SS. Same suspension, same engine, transmissions and lighter than an SS and slightly faster in a straight line. And if you want to keep the car like I do, The LT1 has less things to go wrong. All that for $35K? Is there another performance car that even comes close for that price? Crickets. Still I am not knocking the SS. I had a M6 2ss with MRC, NPP, and an A10 ZL1. Both great and fun cars. The LT1 is my keeper. I do not miss MRC at all, but I do miss the HUD a bit. I am not saying just do what I think. Just take a close look at the product you are buying and what you are paying for and how you want to use that product to make the decision. There is no good or bad choice here, just your choice. All Camaros are fun to drive.

Here are just some of the differences of a 1SS vs an LT1 model:
better tires wider wheels/tires on rear better rear brakes governor at 180 instead of 155 track cooling package track mode brake cooling kit included warranteed on track days |

I paid $34,995 for my 1SS. That was the discounted price before the $2k mustang rebate that I also qualified for. So 33k before tax/tags. Event at $34995, glad I got the 1SS for staggered wheels and summer rubber, and rear brembos. Like the front of the SS more too. If I could get an LT1 for a couple grand less than that, then sure.
