I was thinking about it some more and it’s possible the smell could be coming from the insulation near the firewall. The smell does come from the dashboard. I know from BMW forums the wax/crayon smell comes from there. Not saying it’s the same but it’s certainly possible. That might be why despite my best efforts to use an odor eliminator, ozone, clean the interior the smell still lingers.

Update: Over a week ago I purchased Meguiars New Car Scent Bomb, so far it’s been great. As of right now, I smell the car scent bomb, not the actual car smell which I’m not a fan of. Follow the instructions, should have good results.

My 2018 ZL-1 smells like cow poo when I get in it, and it has smelled like this since new. It's the leather from the Recaros.

Do you know if the car was ever flooded? Even just a little? If the jute (sp?) under the carpet gets wet, it will smell forever.
