Can't Abuse OBD if no OBD

Had the 'ol snippy-snappy done. Now any thieves will be shooting blanks. Lower chance for unexpected accidents for me.

Going to pair this with the Mobilistics remote relay, for a <$500 comprehensive package. Can't program a new key without OBD. Car won't start if they go the intercepted signal route with the Mobilistics. Seems like this pair would defeat anybody without a significant amount of time on their hands.

Interesting approach. Can't tap into it if it just plain isn't there!

Kinda like it. To me this is just as invasive as the cut off switch for OBD.. in fact you don't need to place a switch somewhere, so maybe even less invasive.

I hate the idea of cutting any wires or modifying the interior for things like this. But I hate the idea of my car getting stolen even more..

What style of connector is that? Web link for your source?

I am thinking something like that would be a nice combo with a dummy "snipped" or rewired OBD plug that could be connected in place of the properly wired one when you don't need to use the OBD port...

Thief’s will just bring their own connector/OBD, they are not stupid. Garage is best option and just pull your starter fuse when you go out. Reality is if they want your car that bad chances are they might get someday.

That's a great idea. Any 8 pin (or higher) connector would work.

Connector looks like deutch(sp?) style connector. Wires look suuuuperrr short. Put in fake foglight switch that breaks hi speed buss wires

I don't for the world of me understand why would you would post something if its supposed to be a security measure for your car. At this point is it really secure?

I do agree that we really have to be careful about what we post. The videos I've seen of these thefts have shown very organized groups of maybe 4 individuals who know exactly what they are doing - these aren't some bored kids who randomly decide to steal these cars.

Our cars are targeted. And these thieves are probably on the internet more than we are. There's good chance that they're picking up tips from this website.

I know we want to help each other. I don't have a problem with posting general strategies and information to help our friends here, but I do cringe when we post pictures of exactly how we're doing it. Then it's all out there for everyone to see, friend or foe.

With these thieves it is a time game, they are not going to diagnose shit as to why the car doesn’t start first try, they move on. Most are probably looking at third strike.

Agree but let’s not make it easier for them. Posting all this info just reduces the time it takes to figure out what they need to do to take the car. We need to keep the mystery going about why the car will not start/respond. A third strike is bad except in CA. The game in CA is more like bowling instead of baseball. 🙄

Deutsch connector, thanks! That reminded me that I have a bunch of Molex connectors left over from building my arcade emulation cabinet. Hmmm...

Some of them are bored kids. I think you're overestimating the abilities of thieves who've been stealing Camaros recently. All they have to do is buy a tool online, smash your window and plug it into your OBD2 port and they're gone in a few minutes. There's no technical skills involved.
