50th Anniversary Camaro!!!

Wasn't sure where to place this ,but how can we be seeing a 50th anniversary Camaro in 2017 when they have only been produced for 43 years. Does that mean that we are celebrating only the 1967 model? Very confusing to me. Help.

Because there's been Camaros for 50 years.

Thank you. So then we are only celebrating the 67 since it's the only one that's been for 50 years. The seven missing years makes this confusing. It made more sense to me with cars like the Corvette or Mustang which have been build every year til they got to 50. Well, except for that mess in 1983 with the vette. Although it wasn't like they didn't try to have an 83 model year though.

It's the 50th Anniversary of the debut of the Camaro nameplate in the 1967 model year. 50 years of the Camaro's existence.

This.

Camaro started production in 1967. 1967 + 50 = 2017. Camaros have been around for 50 years regardless of production gaps.

I explained this to a chastising buddy like this: Say you've been married for 25 years, but 5 years in, you are stranded on a deserted island. 20 years later, you are rescued and have an anniversary party. You still have been married for 25 years, so at the party, you celebrate your 25th anniversary, albeit much better rested and content than you would have been.
