Its not just Project Farm.
https://bobistheoilguy.com/air-filtration-test/ "That said, both the cotton gauze type (K&N) and foam filters (Amsoil & Jackson Racing) showed the same levels of filtration. Both performed poorly compared to the fiberous or paper filters (Napa, Baldwin, and Mazda)." I don't know if this one is properly peer reviewed but there are SAE references to refer to if you're so inclined. https://pdf.sciencedirectassets.com/...qa&type=client "The filtering efficiency test conducted on OEM and K&N air filter shows that OEM air filter exhibits superior air filtering qualities compared to K&N filter. It should also be noted that the actual filtering efficiency of K&N air filter will be greater than obtained from the test. This was because in real life condition the actual air filter surface area exposed to dust is higher compared to that exposed during the test." https://www.project200.com.au/dm-iso5011/ "A filter with a 98% efficiency rating would pass roughly twice as much dust as a filter with a 99% efficiency rating, so what seems like a small difference is actually quite a large one" Last edited by Lex2021; 03-09-2021 at 10:41 AM. |

I'm just here to hear what the other dealer says when you take in it for the 'free' tune.

The GM CAI filter looks like a cotton unit to me, albeit a dry one. I wonder about the filtering efficiency, then, especially since it's a factory part.
Quote:
If you take the OEM one apart, you will see that the air enters through a small opening in the airbox, goes up through the filter, then turns and enter the intake accordion tube, and another turn into the throttle body. With the GM CAI, the air enters through the cone filter and enters that bend into the throttle body. It provides a much less convoluted path. I do generally agree that an intake doesn't do much for an NA car, though. On my old RX-8, I never bothered with an aftermarket intake as the factory intake is already really, really good. The flow path is very simple to begin with for that car.

Damn, it crazy how people become so selective/judgemental on how others spend their money.
Yet those same people who criticize a CAI doing nothing will install side skirts, splitters, fancy gas cap covers and engine bay plaques and other cosmetic only mods that do absolutely nothing, too. Arguing about what the CAI does is not even on topic with what the OP was asking Plenty of other CAI topics that have gone over that over and over. |

That said, intake looks good. Personally I embrace this formula. DIY = Budget > Function > Form Hence I put a $75 TBSS intake on my GTO rather than a $800+ FAST. |

At dealer now. Took a copy of the certificate page, took the car and said be right back. Did not even flinch.
