I put my GM CAI on today and Dealer sigh...

Got the intake put on. Took my son and I about 45 minutes - really taking our time. We decided to try and take it to the local dealer (to be left unnamed) to see if they could drop in the programming before they closed.

and guess what... they wanted to charge me $130.00 - just for the programming. I said it is included. The guy said "not our labor". So we left and my son was reading the lower portion and it says right there, the kit includes the programming, charge GM XXXXXXXX.

So I made an appointment with "my preferred" dealer and will get it done tomorrow.

Picture...and do not pick on my dirty car/engine bay - I have not had time to clean it

Sucks... I would have probably tried to find a phone number to GM direct and set the record straight just to make a point. But often its not worth the hassle and wouldn't want them then working on my car, haha... Hope the next dealer gets it done for you without hassle!

I assume it takes them a few minutes tops, right? I mean, how long to install the update needed?

I'd contact GM customer care and report this incident with the dealer. Perhaps they get a slap on the wrist? Also, a bad review on google/yelp/whatever!

I had the same initial response from my dealer and when I showed him he said “oh, I haven’t seen that before, I guess it is free!” They did apologize for not knowing.

CAI looks good ... curious to see if what you think pre/post tune.

Apologies to diverge ... Fran - recall you referencing purchasing the black lugs. Can you confirm what socket you used (read a 22mm non marrying socket by titan?) ... any special care required?

None of these dealers know jack it seems. No wonder i slapped the lemon law on my new 2019 C7. We never heard of shudder in the A8 or we never heard of bad rear ends in the Stingrays. I was not gonna deal with it.

Let me know is you notice a change in sound or anything. Maybe i will get one slapped one for kicks.

Breathes better and sounds better, especially if you have done the sound tube delete. The same system from CAI, who makes them for GM, says about 10 or so more HP.

I would have left a bad review if I were you, but that's me.

You really have to be on another level of stupid and incompetent when it literally says on the paper, black and white, that the tuning cost is charged to a GM labour code.

The local dealer I deal with(a little farther away from the one closest to me, but that one screwed over someone I know on a lease so I am avoiding doing business with them) is initially a bit confused but they figured out very quickly.

Just to clarify, GM didn't claim an HP number, but someone dynoed the car before and after and saw 15~20 WHP/WTQ increase.

It's definitely expensive, but there is less hassle with warranty issues and for states with CARB standards, you also won't run into any issues as it's CARB compliant.
