General GMAX AS-03 vs. Yokohama Parada Spec-X? (All Season Tire Recommendations)

Anyone ever used these tires on their rides and have any info to offer? I just had a set of the general's on my camaro, and used to run the yokohama's on my TBSS. Both tires have been great, just wondering if anyone has run the yokohama's on the camaro and if they had any input, especially since it's time for new rears.

Also open to any all-season tire recommendation, no summer tires though, car is a year-round daily and I don't have a second set of rims for summers yet

We have sold the Yokohama Parda Spec X for these car many times and they get good reports. However I feel the Gmax has sportier handling for this type of car so I would go with another set of Gmax.

I have the Gmax on my car now and they are great. I've had them for just about a year and they performed great in the snow. I didn't drive the car during a blizzard but there was enough packed down snow to cause FWD cars to sit and spin their wheels while I moved a long nicely. I would get them again.

You may want to consider the Nitto Motivo line as well. They tend to have better reviews than the GMax and are an all season tire in sizes to fit the SS. I've had them on my SS for about a year and a half without any issues (275F/315R). However, I realize that I've changed my driving habits a bit to work with the Motivo tires, as they'll break lose earlier than the P-Zeros or Eagle F1 Supercar tires will on dry or wet. No experience with ice or snow though.

I'll have to see if there's anyone who rocked them through rougher conditions, as well as compare treadwear ratings. Those are another model that i've seen pop up around here a few times

EDIT: found another thread with some good information (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296533) seems like the nittos you mentioned definitely have a higher treadlife, which would also indicate a tougher compound meaning less sticky. Seems like they're both great performers, but the nittos may last me longer... gonna see what else I can dig up

I’ve be running the Nitto Motivo’s and I’ve got right at 20,000 miles on them and the rears are a 3/32 and the fronts at 5/32, so I’m looking to replace them soon. I’ve had no issues with them and would buy them again. And yes, being an all season tire they tend to break lose earlier it seems that the P Zeros.

I loved my Gmax's though I swapped to wider wheels. Mine is my daily so I run Continental DWS tires now. Good so far, haven't had snow yet so not sure.

Also looking into the Toyo Proxes tires. Read a few good reviews from other threads about them on here. Got a high treadwear rating of 560, and both temp/traction ratings are A with a speed rating of Z. Looks like another solid option for me, considering they have the same specs as the motivos but are about 35 bucks cheaper per tire than the motivos. Obviously, this is all on paper and doesn't reflect real-world experiences. Anyone got anything to say about these?

Here is what I have found. I have run the Gmax on both my old 11 rs and now my 14 ss. The Gmax is a great tire for all conditions. It doesn't get hard when it's really cold, handles snow, water and ice like a champ. Been really happy in up to 3" of snow and -5°. Getting a consistent 25k miles out of them.

I have also run the sumitomo as po2. Not a bad tire, great in dry cold to about 17°, sticky in the rain. Useless in snow and ice. Expect 12 - 15k miles and the staggered fitment if being used will void their mileage warranty.

I have been reluctant to try the continental as I hear consistently that once they are at half tread life or below they loose more than 50% of their sticky.

On a side note if you see more than 4" of snow and - minus degrees get snow tires. They are worth it on every level. Blizzak, michilan, and nitto are Great with our cars. I run the nitto nt90w in winter

Intending to try the nitto invo this coming summer.

Once I get my hands on some extra cash, I'm going to call my usual tire guy (owns a shop not too far from me) and see which he can recommend. He's been steering me in the right direction for a while, so I'll see if he has any input

Also, complete sidenote, I've had a set of winter tires that have been sitting in my basement for years now from my sister's old car. My dad recently placed them in my responsibility, saying if I can find a buyer, I can keep the cash (perfect for spending on some new meat for the camaro). Sounds like a solid opportunity, but if they've been sitting for a while, i'm worried they're dried out and potentially useless. They must be around 6 years old, but only saw maybe two winters and still have a lot of beef on them. Anyone know if they'd be worth something, and if so, some potential markets?

EDIT: More specs on aforementioned used winter tires: 4 Michelin Arctic Alpin tires, 205/55/16 mounted on steelies, around 3/4 tread left

I currently run the Prada Spex-X in factory SS sizes. Its a good all season tire. I mean the all season isn't great at any one thing, but decent at all things and I think that sums up this tire pretty well. I feel like the wet traction is a lot less with these than when I had my Invo's though. Also im not the biggest fan of the look of the tread pattern but that's not the biggest priority when it comes to an all season I guess.

I think I'm gonna roll with the toyo proxes 4 plus tires. Found em for a good price, and they got good reviews for what I'm gonna be driving them through, not to mention a better treadwear rating than the paradas
