The idea is to make it so time consuming that a thief will give up. The longer the spend trying to steal it the more likely they will be caught. Then there is the carjacking scenario to be thought about. I would recommend everyone look into at least a an aftermarket alarm like Compustar and a IGLA that provides coverage and alerting for a multitude of situations which can also include carjacking while still retaining convience like remote start and proximity unlocking.
All good ideas! Even though I will be pulling my starter relay fuse and purchasing faraday bags! I will also be getting a club, which is nothing but another deterrent to piss them off and everything they move it around the horn is gonna honk which will cause more attention. Only chance will be a tow truck! Whoever the first person is that can make FULL THEFT DETERRENT feature for your vehicle will a rich AF. LOL I’d have to be a criminal to do it but hey I’ll buy it.

All great ideas!, but, there are other alternatives, such
As sleeping in your car with a loaded gun, that’ll “kill”two birds
With one stone, remove the perp from the gene pool
And solve the stolen car situation!

I'm doing the old steering wheel lock as a deterrent in addition to the faraday box for keys at home and faraday pouch for when out. If the shit bags are intending to steal my car, at least they will have a harder time getting/cutting the steering wheel lock off. Hopefully this will either deter them to move on to another car or keep them there long enough for me to come back to it and introduce them to Mr. Sig. But you are right, if they want it they will find a way to take it. But for them, a spur of the moment theft may take them longer with a steering wheel lock. Hopefully since i also have a carbon fiber steering wheel on which will make it even more difficult to just cut the steering wheel.

Reading these stories makes me paranoid about taking it out or on long road trips where I have to leave it parked in a hotel parking lot.

This has been discussed before, hotel parking lots big no no. I have just heard and seen it too many times. I’m also just paranoid

I park my truck (see pic) below my Nest camera and behind the garage door where my Camaro is parked. I lock it manually, put the fob in a Faraday bag, remove everything of any value, and take the door controller inside.

I caught a punk on my camera throwing a boulder through the passenger window a few years ago. As soon as the alarm went off, he ran away. Cops came by, watch my Nest video, and caught him later.

But now these guys are stealing license plates too.

If I'm traveling with the camaro, I'll move my seat all the way forward, move the back all the forward as well, and pull the seat fuse and starter fuse. Pretty hard to even get in the car let alone do anything else. Odds of them having the proper fuses are pretty low.

Instead of pulling the fuse, you can try this Mobilistics.com

I plan on getting that, and I also just purchased the Soler Performance TB controller with the LOCK feature that disables the gas pedal. Between the two of those, I think I'll be done pulling fuses when I travel.

I got the mobilistics piece but Im going to get the igla system and a club or steering wheel lock of some kind just for a visual deterrent.

I have done quite a bit. I have both the Faraday bag and box. I lock my garage door opener, and I have a throttle controller that locks out the accelerator pedal. I also have a GPS tracker (not an airtag). Then after all that I purchased LoJack! Now, I hope it doesn't get stolen by someone looking on this forum, haha!

another item that I have available in my layered defenses when needed is this

Brake/Clutch Lock

Was using this before I got my IGLA system installed, as opposed to any steering wheel lock due to how easy it seems to cut through the steering wheel with a hacksaw.
Still use it when I want or think I need another layer of protection.

With this installed, no one is starting the car. And if they do happen to get it started not really going to be able to drive. However it does still allow remote start to operate which is nice!

Obviously the lock is probably the weak point, but from what I can tell it looks like it will resist some drilling attempts.

But again don't need to fully stop them just make the risk/reward calculation skew in your favor due to the time needed to get through the layers. At the end want them to move on to easier targets.

I don't see how at this point we don't have the ability to have a kind of multi-factor authentication, like send a push notification to my phone asking if it's ok to start the car, or a much better anti-theft system.
