GM V6 Aftermarket Intake Coming?
I was not aware GM had new aftermarket intake coming for the V6. But this site here has one listed with a part number
23373336 - LGX 3.6L

Price isn't bad... most were paying 399 for the CAI brand one on the 5th gen. The RotoFab was 320.
I personally don't need a cover if the box seals to the hood. That's more of a show thing, boxes with Windows... Hopefully it looks like the lgx diagram pictured. Looks to be on par with the RotoFab setup. Being an open molded box

Would my car need a new tune from GM to make use of the new air flow? Or to make any performance gains?

The "tune" that people talk about with GM intakes is a maf calibration due to changing the cross section of where the sensor is measuring and so changing how much air is passing it vs the measured air passing it. Though i'm not sure such a change is made in the GM cai so re-calibration is probably not needed. This would be different if we were talking about some kind of ram-air intake where intake pressure can start climbing above static air pressures. But even then, i think most stock ecu's and maf sensors can handle a couple extra psi above sea level. Not positive about ours though. |

Do we know how much of an increase it'll give? Fords coming out with the performance tunes and intakes for their cars and the eco boost's intake and tune matches the V6's Horsepower but destroys it in torque. They're charging $700 for it while we're paying $400 so we might be seeing much less of an increase than ford's.
