How many 1LEs have suffered the no Oil Pressure Issue?

Lost oil pressure last evening - put the car on a roll back, dealer will look at on Monday I hope

It's specific to LS3's, not just 1LE's. The issue has been around for a while now. Relief valve in the oil pump gets jammed, and needs to be shimmed.

Well, unfortunately it's just the luck of the draw. It's been an issue for years now. This is why it is highly recommended that you change out your stock oil pump (usually melling high volume or high pressure replacement) when you tear into the motor for a cam swap. OR, you can reuse your stock pump, but simply shim the relief valve a few millimeters. However, like I said, there's no telling if your LS3 is affected unless you physically remove the oil pump. Some people have run LS3's (in stock form) for more than 100,000 with never even encountering a single issue. Simultaneously, others have lost the motor due to the stuck valve in less than 10,000 miles. Like I said, it's just the luck of the draw.

But, that shouldn't scare you. If it does happen that you lose oil pressure, turn the engine off immediately *if the situation permits*, and have the car towed to a shop.

I've had it replaced on my 1LE at about 8K miles (2013). I definitely scared the living crap out of me, but it was towed to a dealer and fixed.

What symptoms did you first observe. Was it simply a flashing low oil pressure light that made you go into emergency mode and shut off that engine ASAP?

That's the only warning you'll ever get. There are no symptoms prior to the event.

I had just finished my final day of a two day track weekend and was getting ready to go home.

I turned on the key/ignition and the warning flashed in the center LED screen and my oil pressure gauge read zero. Immediately, turned the car off.

No warning, no loss of power - just kaput and used OnStar to get it towed to the nearest Chevy dealer.

my ss suffered the oil pump failure about 3 years ago. towed to dealership for a warranty replacement, but soon switched to a melling shortly after.

Had to replace my engine only after 2500 miles! Oil pump failed on the track at Watkins Glen doing over 100mph. By the time I got it back into the paddock, engine was toast! No warning at all.

Here is a pick of it being trailered back home.

I blame part of the failure for the mods I installed such as supercharger, cam and other goodies.

I highly recommend to anyone that is doing mods to your car, replace the oil pump with an after market, good quality pump.

Probably no relation, but I'm curious none the less. What kind of oil were you using?
