Trans Removal

We will be removing the trans later this month to install Circle D converter. My son works at a speed shop and we've done all the installs so far, so have LOTS of confidence. We also have a lift.

Question: Any of you who have removed the trans, any particular issues we need to be aware of? He has every tool on earth, but any special extensions, etc., that help make it easier?

I've reviewed Lethal's video and understand the top bolts are a PITA.

Thanks

i'd say its harder for us standard guys as the clutch likes to fight back.. I had to drop k member to be able to pull the trans out but no the top bolts actually weren't hard to get to but then again i did it with having the intake manifold off so we did those from the top of the engine bay then the rest of the bolts were from the bottom. their is quite a few bolts for the k member, hard to explain so use this thread and download the PDF https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500494

Thanks for the link. We will be taking the intake off too for the LT4 stuff so I'll let him know to keep it off for the trans.

Update:

We had the trans lowered and new converter install in 3 hours. That included:

1) Exhaust removal
2) Drive shaft removal
3) Starter removal
4) Intake removal for top bolts (we're doing LT4 fuel also so it was coming off anyway)
5) Fill and reinstall new Circle D

We left it at that for the evening and had everything button up the next day in about 2 1/2 hours or less.

Couple things to note:

1) The headers (Kooks 1 7/8") did NOT need to be loosened or lowered for either starter removal or complete trans removal. In fact, we didn't even remove the O2 sensor on the passenger side.

2) It would be WELL worth removing the intake manifold to access the top bolts. For the few minutes it's takes, it's a no brainer.

3) We had a lift and trans jack etc., so that does make life easier.

4) This is all happening with other parts of the build going on. Custom lowside fuel system, Alky Control meth and E85, high side LT4 fuel.
