Your first post is asking someone to get around your local emissions requirements. Slow night at CARB?

Just get a K&N sticker and put it on your bumper, just as effective.

O.K. How 'bout a real answer to your question?

CA won't allow any cai currently on the market. For a few years, Chevy offered a factory CAI that required a reflash of the car's ECM and was 50 state legal. They claimed it was capable of greater airflow, though I don't think they ever made any HP increase claims. It was an attractive piece, but unfortunately it has been discontinued and would not be compatible with your model (I'm guessing you've got a 2022 SS).

If you do a search in the "bolt-ons" forum it can provide a great deal of info. The short answer is Rotofab, I believe is the only aftermarket cai that has been documented to provide some HP improvement over the stock air intake- which is quite good straight from the factory. If you install one, you'd have to switch it out for the OE one for inspections, and hope no CHIP's officer asks you to open the hood.

Finally, I have to say I've been disappointed with the attitude older members of this website have been displaying toward newer, less experienced members. New guys, and their $$, is the life's blood of this website and it has always been the custom of members to treat everyone with respect. Not disdain, as this discourages further discourse and diminishes us all. IMHO- of course.

Ventmaster, we are not jaded. There were just too many red flags with this post, and I'm sure you know the background and the current situation with CARB and the EPA. If OP comes back, posts more, provides some context and information, of course we do our best to help. Look at Josh's post history, or James's or even mine and you'll see we are no a-holes.

Intakes are generally a snake-oil thing, where the increased noise by bypassing stock silencing makes people think they are making “more power”. Fluctuations from dyno run to run are a fact of life and can be cherry picked to make it seem like theres more power, but to really flow more air theres a lot more that goes into it. Its not that a bigger intake is never needed, its just that other parts and mods drive it, not the other way around. Modern ECUs are too smart for this and if it were really this easy, it would have been done at the factory. Get some headers, intake manifold and a tune.

I installed a Rotofab. It seems like acceleration is just slightly smoother.. ..but otherwise it doesnt feel any different than Stock.

I agree- you are not a-holes and there are red flags in the OP's post. Apologies to all. My complaint was premature. I hope we hear back from Mr. Hunt so we can determine if he was "hunting" for an accomplice.
