18 & 19” Falken RT-660’s have arrived

For those looking for another tire competitor in the 200TW selection, I just received the 315/30/18 (square setup) and the 305/30/19 and 315/30/19 that I’ll plan to do some testing against the Yoko A052 18’s and the Goodyear SC3 (non R) 19’s.

Here’s a couple pics of the tires. The right stack are the 18’s the left stack are the 19’s.

Best Regards,
Dave

Interested in your results. What's the price on the 315/30/19s? I don't see that size on tire rack.

Awesome, I look forward to see what you think!

I was going to go for the 315/18 660s but the price is around $350 which isn't significantly cheaper than any other option so I was thinking I'd just go with A052s as they are a proven tire. However, I'm open to 660s being as good or better, if so it'll save me $200 or so on a set vs A052.

I think my price was about the same as the 315/30/18... because they couldn't find a price to reference.

The 315/30/19 seems to be a difficult tire to source any real info on.

I was looking more so for a slightly more economical and longer lasting competitive tire for local autox... then pull out the A052's if at an actual Pro Solo / National Tour type of event. I'm not sure the RT-660 will be quicker than the A052... but hopeful it may last longer.

Best regards,
Dave

I've heard the A052 don't last long, but OTOH I've also seen RE71s and Rivals lose grip before they wear out due to heat cycling when used for AutoX. So I wonder if their effective lifespan may not be that much different?

I was also hoping the 660s would be significantly cheaper, and the 305/19s are just under $300, but then the 315/18s are $50 more per tire!

Where/how did you get the 315/30/19? I was hoping those would become available so I could use them in B Street on the rear of my SS 1LE, and the 305/30/19 up front. But I see no place that is selling this size, despite the fact that Falken's own site shows that they exist.

I got them at my local Discount Tire. I did have to 'encourage him' to pick up the phone, and told him that they are available... It took him a week or so to send it up the chain, and they were able to get them... I'll try to check on the shipping labels where they came from and see if that can assist you in escalating with your local tire store.

It took Discount Tire about 6 weeks to get them from when I originally ordered, but I'd have to believe they are going to start being more readily available now.

Best Regards,
Dave

Would you mind giving some measurements on width compared to the yokohomas when you have them mounted

Not at all. I also have brand new unmounted 315/30/18 A052's... so I can get those measurements before this weekend.

I'm not sure when I will mount these just yet. My 18's have 295's on them now, from the last GTA event.

Best regards,
Dave

I was planning on getting these to replace my Rivals when the time comes. We'll have to see how active the 2021 season is. If it's like the 2020 season, then it may be 2022 before I need another set.

Looking at how they look at 45 runs in 2020, I should be able to make 150 runs if I'm so inclined.
