I am suffering the same as you above. Shifting into second gear feels like it is in the pocket and locked but then go to let clutch out (in some cases clutch still fully engaged) and it grinds gears. Getting frustrated. After they fixed your issue did the shifter continue to move slightly while driving when in gear (should be back and forth motion but slight)?

Dealership has noted the issue but cannot replicate. Truth is it doesn't need to be replicated. It needs to be torn down and inspected because I guarantee it is a synchronizer. With GM on strike I am out of luck. Bringing this thread to the service guy at my local dealership (Flemington Chevy).

Best of luck to others with the issue. Extremely frustrating.

The strange thing is, the whole transmission feels better. Since there's been a problem from the beginning, I didn't realized how bad tranny was. Now, it shifts so smoothly into every gear...used to be rough. Also, the shifter is "tight" in each gear. It used to feel loose in each gear, but I didn't realize it was a problem.

Dave- Any chance you can re-post the video so I can show my dealership what is happening? Mine does not happen to your extent so hard to catch it in the moment. Thank goodness I found this thread. Thought I was the only one.

I have a camaro ss 2018

I am having same 2nd gear issue. One the customer got it fixed and found out that is a defective transmission housing. Here is the link to the video. https://youtu.be/FxngwiF7_Wg

GM knows about it but they are telling their dealer to tell customers that it is normal. Everybody, we need to report this issue to NHTSA.gov. Here is the link for that https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/

All these camaoros have defected transmision housing which is causing multiple symtoms. For example, hard to shift to 2nd when upshift or downsift, 2nd gear popping out and shift into neutral, missing 2nd gear and sometime grinding.
I spoke to 2 dealers and they both have different openion. One says that i need skip shift eliminater and the other one says that it is normal to have symtoms like that also Advised me not to use the 2nd gear. Which is bad beacuse we spent a fortune buying this car and then we are unable the use 2nd gear.

Please everybody, go NHTSA website and file a complain because they are not going to fix it until government institution files a lawsuit against GM

Chevrolett dealers have really bad attitude
Eventhough i made a video and showed to bunch of dealers in southflorida but they do not want to fix it
Chevrolett do not want to take the cost of fixing it and they are on purposely giving their customers run around so they do not have to fix it and eat the cost.
This is my first chevy and i feel like it is ripp off.

I finally got it fix at Autonation. the only dealership that do understand that customers knows how cars work. All the other chevy dealership i went to, they gave excuses like i dont know anything about cars and try to make fool of me.
It was the 3rd to 2nd gear syncronizer
They replaced it now
