Battery tender amps requirement?

Getting ready to hitch a tender up and let my car sit for the winter, but I see there are a few different versions to pick from- 1.25Amp, 5A, 750mA, and 800mA. Anyone using one of these know which I will need? Auto part store clerk didn't know which to recommend, and I have no experience with them.

They all work, the only difference is how fast they charge. And for winter work, that means they all work. Get the one that fits your budget.

I bought the 750mA battery tender junior from Walmart for $20. It works fine. You don’t need a fancy nor expensive one. I was doing my audio system upgrade last winter and the battery low notifications came up in the cluster. This happened a few times. I left the tender on overnight and started up find the next day.

I use a CTEK unit that is similar to the ones sold by GM for the Camaro. I have a pigtail attached to the battery, so all I do when winter hits is pop open that little access panel in the trunk passenger side and pull out the pigtail to attach the charger.

If I did not get a "smart" charger, I would use a trickle charger that puts out something well under 1 amp, because you don't want to cook the battery.

Had a small unit for previous car but it never got a full charge on my SS so my new one is 5amp and it works great.
