Best Subwoofer Box?

Hey guys. So I have a question for those of you running subwoofers. Has anybody built their own box, or does anybody have a box that fits well with a lot of room?

I actually design boxes but I have been very busy so getting around to actually building my own has been an out-of-reach task. But starting next month I should get some free time, so I was wondering if anybody had some dimensions of a box that fits already and I can design the port around that.

The boxes I see online you can buy are overpriced and have ports that are too small or tuned too high. I plan on running a single 12 with about ~2 cubes of air, tuned ~33hz. Will ultimately depend on the sub I end up going with.

Looks like you will need to come up with you own design, that’s not the fastest but probably the better way. Good luck and post some pictures .

If you build boxes, then you know that the perfect box is a custom built box based on the specs of the woofer itself. The same box that works for dual 10" W6's won't work for two 10" T1's, etc. Just seems like an odd question asking what is the "best subwoofer box" since every box will be different for every woofer.

No I understand that, but I was seeing If people had some max dimensions of a box that already fits. Because it's looking like some premade boxes have over 2 cubes of airspace and I wont be using all of that.

Was just trying to get those dimensions so I didn't have to do a bunch of test fits and measurements of getting the box to fit through the back seats. Obviously my design will be for the subwoofer I choose. I may have worded it poorly.

Since you design boxes I’ll ask.are you going with wood or something lighter like fiberglass ?

I still have a lot of 3/4 MDF in my basement that I need to use. I just have a temporary prefab 12 in the trunk right now to get me through. This box just barley fits in height and width wise so I may just use those dimensions and add to the length.

I was hoping to make a simple rectangle box and not have a bunch of odd dimensions but I guess i'll find out if I have enough room soon enough.

I wish there were a nice sealed 10inch box for the Camaro, that didn't have way too much air space. Sub thumb has one but its two cubic ft, which is way more than my w6v2 needs.

I have this JBL powered 12. for the money it's better than good! fits in the trunk nicely and has a remote to control the level from up front. https://www.amazon.com/JBL-GT-BassPr...d+sub&link_code=qs&qid=1569968537&sourceid=Mozilla-search&sr=8-3

If i was going for a single sealed 10 I would easily just make my own. That takes all of 30 seconds to design and an hour to build.

But even buying a prefab one wouldnt be an issue as long as you measure before hand. I saw a few Camaro specific 2-10 boxes that had about 1 to 1.5 cubes of air.

Whats the prefab box company that sells boxed for this car? Their box looked almost perfect for W6's... maybe a hair to small, I was going to buy one and try modifying it slightly.

I used a JL Audio prebuilt speaker + enclosure combo. Because I have a vert, I may want to remove the sub and leave it at home in case I want to maximize trunk space.

My installer customized it by installing a click-lock connector (SpeakOn?) in lieu of the standard banana connectors, and he screwed in a rubber handle for easy carrying.

My build thread is below, and the JL box pic attached here. It sounds good and pumps out significant volume and rumble for a 10" speaker and small enclosure. They make a 12" version too.

The custom ******** box is well built and fits nicely. I have one for sale along with the ******** Bose harness, JL 10W6v3 10" sub, and JL XD600/1 amplifier, and LC2 converter if anyone is interested.
