I really like the Lightning Lap! But, how much error should we expect? I mean, there's the weather, driver, the track surface rubber, surface aging over the years... etc. I like to magazine race cars with the results, but i have to think the variables could line up for a significant difference.

I also didnt think he got all out of the car that he could have. However looking at the next fastest time, I don't think it would have mattered. The ZLE is still flat amazing. It has Super Car performance at 76K. I don't think, dollar for dollar there is a better performance car available.

I believe a two second improvement is possible on the Ring.

That was also with Bill Wise (Nurburgring Test Driver) consistently pushing the C&D driver to the maximum.
with different drivers and less laps.

Totally agree... then throw a non-professional in the mix and the gap widens.

WOW impressive performance BUT $76k price is a HUGE FAIL!
C8 coming out soon Z51 will be about the same price and I'm going to guess be faster
sorry the ZL1 price should be $63k

So, of the three cars that finished ahead of it, the cheapest was three times the price ($212,960).

The five cars finishing behind the ZLE:

$196,650
$125,373
$130,495
$255,454
$100,845

Wanna try that again, mr. ford troll... ?

Sure, the C8's gonna be a fast car. But it's not here yet...

I bet the C8 with the Z51 package won't be faster. Why your say? Because a notable car reviewer tested a C8 equipped with the Z51 plus an equally equipped C7.

The C8 was .7 faster around the track they ran these cars on. Go look at the times of all the lightning laps and see where the C7 sits compared to the 1LE.

Besides you're talking apples to oranges. A light weight Corvette against a heavier Camaro.... excluding the powerplant we know which should be faster

Really good comments in there from Wise and about going all off. Probably the best I've seen and had to learn some of this the hard way. Nice to see it in writing from someone in the know.

Yeah, this is pretty funny. "Impressive performance" followed by "EPIC FAIL"

Most of them are. I doubt anyone pays that or even close to it. Unlike a 350R, I saw where they still want 15k ADM for a lot of them. And the 2020s (remember supposedly a limited run for the Rs ???) are listing for 77k for a less capable car than a ZLE.

YEP.

If you pay anywhere near MSRP on any GM vehicle, you deserve to lose your ass in depreciation.

GM ALWAYS whores their cars out after the hype has died down. 10% to 15% off MSRP is very typical.

Wrong. Tony Quiroga - Same driver for both cars. Same # of laps.

Bill Wise was there at hand last year and this year.

Maybe... but Wise was not there in previous years. There's a lot to say about same day same conditions. Either way the Auto rules.
