Powerstop brake pad - not happy with the bite!

Hey guys,
I changed the factory pads with Z26 1718 & Z26 1474A this weekend. I'm not liking the initial bite as compared to what I had from the factory pads. Is this expected? How is your experience?
I installed it at 2800mi on my SS, did perform brake bedding FWIW.

I plan on doing the same with my SS, but I plan on doing the pads and rotors at the same time, I am getting too much brake dust and I have less than a 1100 miles on it and the thought did cross my mind about just the pads but I want to do it right and go with the slotted and drilled rotors.

I installed the Powerstop Z26 brake pads a week ago. I did the bedding process as well. I am happy with the performance, I have not noticed much if non at all difference. A lot less brake dust, that's the big plus.

Did you clean the rotors during the pad change? If not, then you still have the other pads transfer layer in the way. Even though you bedded them in, they still take a few miles to seat fully. Their pedal feel improves. They won't have the same grabbiness or sponginess of the stock Ferodo's, so some of what you're describing is just acclimation.

Give them a few days of driving and report back.

I did sand the rotors with 120 grit sanding block, not too crazy just enough to take the old pad residue off, cleaned with brake cleaner after.

I didn't do anything to the rotors except for a rinseless wipe down, looks like many have said the same thing about lack of initial bite as the stock ones. Drove 32 miles this morning, certainly acclimation to this new feel of braking.
On the other hand, my stocks were squeaky and these are not.

Perfect. I'm betting the OP just needs some miles to fully seat and he'll like them. The Z26's are a great street pad.

I feel the same way. I changed the originals out for Z26's, did clean of the rotors, and am happy for much less dust. The initial bite I find to be just a little less then the OEM, but certainly not something that caused me any concerns. My wife didn't notice a difference at all. No more squeal also.

Hey guys what's the part numbers for the Z26 brake pads front and rears? I have a 2016 SS but I'm assuming it's the same as the 2017 SS

The OP quoted the part numbers in the first post...

You'll get used to it. I do disagree with some of those on here that in some past threads that say they feel the same as the stock Brembos. That has not been my experience at all.

That said, they are well worth it for the lack of brake dust. They are definitely as advertised on that front. I'm still pretty happy with them but the old ones are going back on temporarily for an upcoming track day...
