Newbie dumb ZL1 questions

I couldnt find the answers with my searches and dont have alot of time to dig the answers so I apologize if these are dumb, already answered questions:

Where does the supercharger on a 2014 fall in regards to warranty coverage (3 yrs, 36,000 or 5 yrs 100,000)?

On Ashen Gray what color is the hood insert? Ashen Gray?

Thank you

The zl1s have a carbon fiber insert. The supercharger would fall under the 5 year/100000 mile warranty as it's part of the powertrain.

Thank you,

I thought the exposed carbon fiber insert was $600 option and it painted Ashen Gray was standard. I was wondering if the insert was different color on AGM.

All the ZL1's inserts are made of carbon fiber.
They come in either 'exposed' carbon fiber or painted. Yes the 'exposed' option is a $600 option.
As far as the painted version which is standard, I'm not sure , but I think it's gray. Chevrolet's 'build-it' web page for the ZL1 isn't working right now so I can't check.

The current paint color is grey.
the early ZL1s had a matte black painted insert.

Interesting. I have yet to see one with a painted insert. I didn't even know that came as an option on those. It shouldn't. The carbon insert looks too nice.

"All ZL1 and CTSV get SC warranty extension"

Hint, it's longer than the powertrain warranty...

Wait, so the ZL1 comes with a CF hood insert standard.
Ordering this insert painted the body color is free, but ordering it unpainted in "exposed carbon," cost $600 extra?

It's not unpainted. It's clearcoat finished. And yes it's extra.

They aren't painted body color. They are all CF and are either painted Ashen Grey (standard) (2012 was matte black) or exposed Clear ($600 option). The exposed are hand picked for an alleged perfect weave and then cleared.

Just to avoid confusion, I believe that extension is only up to 2013 models, and the OP specifically asked about 2014.

Also, the clear coat used isn't exactly off the shelf. Traditional clear won't cut it, and stuff turns yellowish.

http://www.cnet.com/news/gm-engineer...-the-corvette/

GM developed a newer UV-blocking clear for the ZR1 and they use it on the inserts.

Also, I believe the painted inserts are all AGM (save the matte ones in early cars), just like the painted inserts in the doors, right?

Thanks for all the responses. I saw with previous supercharger issues certain cars got a warranty extension, but I didn't that carried over to 2014-15 cars. I wanted to know if I should by a extended warranty for the car b/c of the supercharger. If its covered by the 5 yr 100k I might not. But if its only 3/36 then I definitely would.

So if you have a AGM car the insert is the same color as the hood?

I could be wrong, but I think the painted inserts on the 2013 and new cars is a little lighter in color than the Ashen Gray. A little more of a silver but only seen it once and it was on a white car. Might be really sharp on an Ashen Gray one.
It would also be easier to touch up a stone chip, I worry about my ECF getting chipped every time I drive my car.
