MUST DO KEY RECALL OR NO DMV REGISTRATION FOR YOU!

While I was at the dealership yesterday in Culver City, CA, I was informed by a service advisor that the DMV will NOT allow us to register our Camaros without having done the key recall.

IS THIS TRUE?

I haven't heard that. In fact I never received a notice for the recall. I purchased my car on 7/11/14. Maybe the previous owner received it.

how in the world would the DMV have time (and man-power) to validate every vehicles recalls and make sure they were performed on the car? I would have to call BS on that one.

The DMV can't even figure out if your in this country legally, how could they possibly track every recall on every possible car.

You should have asked him if everyone in the building is as full of shit.

Then again, in California it would make perfect sense. Everybody is driving stoned on medical marijuana so they want to enforce recalls for the crashes.

I could see an insurance company refusing to cover you for that, but not a DMV denying your registration.

Once your car is insured, it's insured. Have an accident and it's insured.
Where does some of this info come from ?

I'm not sure of the correlation between recalls and state registration. Some states don't even have a physical inspection..
