Trip back from Camaro Fest (see pic). Lifetime average including track visits is 18-19 though. It all depends on your drive cycle.

OP, forget the phone app and try the dash readout and also do manual calculation.

Matched it, they are exactly the same.
Yesterday I got 13MPG on a 3 mile trip! So there's improvement.

Remember the last trip I made south from camp to home---
~27mpg. SS A8. average speed didn't drop below 70 until I got back to the house. Most of the trip was 90+- (lots of + !!) With summer run-flats. ****** I have checked the accuracy of the display, and it's right on the 0.1 tenth. Around here, usually get 28-31mpg, with occasional fun blasts. AC use will drop the MPG around 0.5-1.0 About 4100m on the car so far. Must be lucky. Gets good "M" and goes like s-not in a windstorm. New tires are AS, think the "M" is down a smidge, but quieter and smoother. |

I've averaged 13.6 on my LME bottom end after 12,000 miles. Trip B was reset when we put it in.
I've seen the car get well over 30 for 25 mile stretches on road driving. I've also seen it get 11.1 on a tank of E85. Do you let the car sit and idle? Do you use remote start alot? |

Today did a 24 mile drive, mix of highway / street. Average speed per the app, 20 MPH Got 17 MPG on this drive. Just hoping this matches some of you so I know there isn't a mechanical issue.

I tend to reset one of my trip odometers with every refill. I’ll spare you the photos, since there are more than a few in this thread, but at 15k+ I have:
My suggestion to CamaroSS50 is to reset all your fuel economy meters and take a 50+ mile drive in mixed traffic, some city, some highway, some boulevard, and check in again. I would further recommend that if you are near a Costco, pay the $60 for a membership and get gas there. If it’s like Detroit area, 93 octane Top Tier Certified goes for about $0.35 - 50 LESS than the going rate for premium in the area, so you’ll make your $60 back just in gas savings.

So OP I want to make sure I have the info right.
Brand new car, less than 1k miles on it with light driving because you are trying to break the engine in. Is the top up or down on these drives? My opinion, quit babying the car. Drive it, now I am not saying go out and beat on it every time you turn the key on but drive it like it is intended to be driven. Just dont go out on a long road trip and set the cruise control at 65mph for 500 miles. Run the engine up thru the rev range up to and including redline. Heat cycles are what help the engine and the piston/rings break in. As the engine gets more broke in the mileage will come up. Short drives are going to be hard on fuel mileage, the car doesnt have a chance to get into lean fuel mode on a 3 mile drive. Heck it takes over 60 seconds just for the catalytic converters to fire off and for the car to go from open loop to closed loop operation. Also the cold PSI for the tires is 32psi I believe. Having them higher wont hurt anything and help mileage, but it could cause the center of the tires to wear out faster due to uneven wear. |

@CamaroSS50, I myself went through what you're experiencing as my driving conditions are quite similar in the SF Bay Area. It takes a few thousand miles of running before the fuel economy of these motors improves. Also, that abysmally low 14 mph avg speed in stop and go traffic is largely responsible for the high consumption. FWIW, I have 3900 miles on mine now and there's a marked improvement in the 50 mile avg from 15 mpg to 18 mpg in the same commute conditions, avg speed 25 mph, hilly terrain too. Last weekend I took a 180 mile round trip journey, cruise set at 80-85 mph for about 70% of the time, and got a best of 28.2 mpg. Like some of the others have noted, the sweet spot is around 1600 rpm. You can check this for yourself if you keep an eye on the instant economy on a level road. Also, if you can get 93 octane gas, you might see still some more improvement.
