Would 1,000 HP change your mind about an EV Camaro?
Check out this article from Detroit Free Press:
1,000-hp GMC Hummer electric SUV to roll out of Detroit assembly plant in 2021 https://www.freep.com/story/money/ca...it/4614774002/ 0-60 in 3 seconds.........in a truck.

I would have no problems with a hybrid camaro. I'm not at a point where I think a full electric is practical for me, but a hybrid, yes.

I don't really know, but I don't think so. While 1,000 HP sounds cool, it really is moot point. I have to ask myself, "when would I ever actually use all that power?" I mean, there might be only once or twice that I've even gotten close to using all the 455HP in my SS.
For me, it's about the driving experience. I like the styling of the Camaro, I like the driving feel of the Camaro, and I really like the V8 rumble, I find it oddly relaxing on that long drive home. So, no, it wouldn't change my mind. One thought about the Hummer, so it is their most capable off road vehicle. So there you are, you used up a good deal of your power supply just to get to the Rubicon Trail, then, right there in the middle of it, you run out of juice. What do you do? No tow truck is going to be able to access your location, no Wrangler is going to be able pull what will have to be at least a 6,000lb truck, it's not like you can carry extra power supply (maybe you can, don't really know yet). What do you do? Call the Army and see if they can haul you out with a Sikorsky? |

No amount of HP or price will change my mind on a EV. I don't want to drive my I Phone and charge it every night. I grew up with the ICE and like the sound, shifting gears, etc. No EV for me.

I'll miss the V8, but I do think the EV technology is superior as long as the infrastructure is in place. Though, I'm not fan of the complexity of the plug in hybrids and would only want a straight EV, like what Tesla is doing.

I DD a 2013 GMC Sierra z71. If an "E" Truck came along that was affordable, we had the infrastructure for charging, the performance was there in all categories and it didn't look stupid, I'd certainly look into it. I'd give it a fair shake.
As a toy, which is what my 16 SS is, I have no interest in an "E" Camaro at any performance level. |

The only electric motor I want in my vehicle is the one needed to start a V8 engine...

I don’t even need 1000hp, it’s all about how it drives , I want an enjoyable car to drive that doesn’t drive ME around. ev is the next thing so we will have to adjust to it sooner or later.

Not in the least bit. I'm not falling for this "green push" from manufacturers.

1000 horsepower and the speed limit is still 55 on 2 lane roads and 65 to 70 on four lane roads?
Our cars are too much for current roads, not to mention law enforcement and unskilled distracted drivers. What good is 1000 hp on the public roads? |

Hell to the No!
It is just marketing being we are in the Horsepower war age. All of these new cars like the ZL1, Hell Cat, and GT500 have so much torque management employed you are not even close to putting all 750-800hp to the pavement on a street tire let alone a 1000hp. Even the lower model SS, Scat Packs, and GT have a lot of torque management in the factory tune. If there was No stabilitrak and TM in the tunes, you would see a lot of them in the ditch.
