I just spoke with my dealership and Chevy and they're refusing the fix the shudder on my car without me paying out of pocket, since I am 7000 miles out of warranty.
I started a thread about it here: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...6#post10541966 I just filed an NHTSA complain and ask that you file on too if you're having the A8 shudder. Chevy fully intends on screwing us - why should we not have working transmissions?

I was told today by the Service Manager that my transmission doesn't qualify for the flush. It's an A8 with a V6. I'm really confused.

I've not experienced the shudder, but I do have the hard, 1-2 shift sometimes.

I am about 15k miles on mine and have zero shudder. Took it in yesterday for an oil change and told them I wanted to be proactive and have the flush. Of course without finding any signs of the shudder (plugged in their laptop, drove it around), GM denied the flush. I decided to have it done regardless (next Monday).. if my TC is still good and the tranny isn't hosed I figure it's worth the investment. With the information you provided I can be specific in what I want them to do and not the "normal" transmission flush. I freakin' love this car and I drive it as a daily (minus snow days) 80 mile, commuter. Only issues I have had is that when parked if I start it and immediately and back up its jerky. If I wait 10 seconds it's fine. The other issue is that the brakes feel weird to me, I can't come to a gentle stop without a lot of finesse. I do at times have some throttle lag (not always and it is minor). No whiplash hard shifts but on occasion/condition it does shift with an "extra kick". Should be interesting to see how the transmission performs with the new fluid. |

Showed the head mechanic the TSB today. He said that he thought it only covered the V8s. Showed him that they were all covered. Then he said he drove the car but didn't feel the shudder. I then told him that I felt it and he agreed to do the flush while they change out a module that's causing a check engine light.

I have a '17 RS V6 A8 Vert. I bought it new in March of '18. The shudder started within the first 1000 miles. The dealer did the flush at 1200 miles. 16 months later, I now have 6500 miles on it without any problems. It was all covered under the service bulletin. In fact, they gave me a loaner car while the work was being done to mine.

I took in my 2016 V6 about 3 months ago as I thought I was just starting to sense the A8 shudder happening once in a great while. They found nothing. In the last week it started happening with enough frequency and intensity that there was no doubt in my mind about it. I rested my phone on the steering wheel and took a video. During a shudder event (65 MPH going up a shallow grade), you could see the RPM bounce back and forth between about 1500-1600 in a rhythmic sort of way. You could then sense the shudder in the steering wheel and throughout the car. When I played the video back, you could also see the video image shake slightly as the transmission cycled in and out of shudder along with the RPM oscillation. The dealer just did the new fluid flush and I never had to show them the video. I just passed 25K miles on the car. Thanks to the info on this forum I feel like I at least caught the problem as early as possible. Hopefully it works for the long run.

How is everyones new fluid flush for the shudder holding up?
Just had mine done and as stated before I didn’t have the shudder problem. It cost me $270.
My observations so far is that even though I felt my shifts were already smooth I believed them to now be smoother (could be a placebo affect). When changing from R to D or D to R no jerk, which was minor before but now gone. I too hope I caught it before it became a real problem but who knows. I will keep folks posted. I commute about 80 miles a day 4 times a week so I rack up miles fairly quickly. Last edited by Geckobros; 07-11-2019 at 05:57 PM. |

So when you guys are contacting your dealership are you giving them the TSB number or just describing the issue?

At about 800 miles with the new mobil 1 fluid. Smooth as silk, The 1-2 gear change is still sorta rough but it doesn't bother me. So much nicer to drive now.
Fingers crossed this TSB will be a permanent fix. |

I've put >3000 miles on after the latest flush and so far it's holding up. 2500 of those were one road trip though.

How many miles do you have on your car? I thought the tranny/shudder is covered under the 5yr/50000mile warranty. ??

About 3,700 miles since the flush and good to go so far.
