Convertible Trunk Light Relocation

For whatever odd reason, Chevy engineers installed the trunk light behind the protective convertible top curtain. If the curtain is in place, there is virtually no light available in the trunk. I plan to leave that curtain in place 100% of the time so I concluded this needed to be fixed. Not a super fancy mod but it does the trick.

There is plenty of wire length available. I extracted the stock light fixture from the trunk, popped the cable stay free and re-routed to the side above the battery. I cut a template out of a piece of junk mail card stock close by and transferred to my trunk lining. I then cut the lining and inserted the light in the new location.

Results; decent light in the trunk in all situations. One drawback, it does shine in your eyes a little.

Good idea! Now, change it to LED and you're all set. Might do this to mine since I frequently encounter this issue.

Well done! Chevy could learn a thing or two from you, SCV.

Thanks!

I probably will upgrade to led. Just didn't have one on hand at the time.

I got a couple of these lights on Amazon and wired I to the original light, one on each side of the truck. Works good and doesn't shine in your eyes. I think they are leds for license plates
