What color temp bulbs are you guys using? I don't like the original stock color temp, too low for me. Thinking of changing to higher temp, 5000K is usually perfect for my many times of working with HID lights/bulbs.

I went with 6000k bulbs from diode dynamics - super happy with them, but they do have an ever so slight blue tint to them, which doesn't bother me, but some people may not prefer it.

I got the 5K bulbs and they are a much truer white than the stock bulbs, however every time I am on the freeway and next to a car with LED lights (which I believe are more around 6K color temp.) I suddenly feel like I am back to halogens, so I just picked up the 6K ones, although I have not installed them yet.

I want to change mine out for 6,000k as well I like the blue look. But I heard that above 5,000k the bulb output isn’t as strong? Is that even true? Starting to think not.

I've heard the same thing, but in actual usage I haven't noticed lower output maybe it was just bias, but the first time I used them at night my reaction was "wow, I can see so much better than the old bulbs."

I found genuine Philips 5000k ones, a pair for $175 on Amazon, might pick those up.

Really?? I thought changing the temputure only makes the color different rather then making them brighter?
Do you have a pic?

I don't know that they *are* actually brighter.. that was just my initial reaction to using them the first time - like I said, it could have just been my own bias towards liking the new color temp (and possibly justifying the cost of them) I also don't have any smarts when it comes to lighting technology, so I can really only go on how it actually feels to me.

Don't have any pics, sorry.

I’m torn between 5000 and 6000. Haha.

Here's an example, Morimoto's HID bulb offering. The lumen output differences from 4500K to 6500K are relatively small, I doubt a naked eye could distinguish a 4500K from a 5500K.

Looking at that chart... Everyone has an opinion about what the "true white" color is. Some say 5K, others say 5,500.

I think light output is very close be from about 4500 to 6500 too. Also the wattage of the bulb changes the color as well. a 35W and 55W of the same color temp , will look different from each other.

LED lights I think are 6K color temp., at least they look like it when I see them on the road.

We have been selling the Morimoto HID bulbs for 2016-18 Camaros. They have 4500k, 5500k or 6500k bulbs available. So far the 5500k bulbs have been the most popular. We sell them for the same price as Morimoto and include Camaro specific install instructions. Also have install available if your in the Fort Worth, Texas area. Only takes us about 15 minutes to swap them out.
