m6 crank pulley removal

thumbing through my eforce install guide and it says I need to remove starter to remove or install pulley...
can this be done without removing starter?

I did not remove starter when I did my Whipple. Since there was 2 of us, we left it in gear and stood on the brakes.

Heat the crank pulley bolt up before trying to remove it. Also our crank pulley tool, the thread stud was too short, ended up cutting the head off the stock bolt, threading the end for the tool and using that.

with heat and the car in 6th gear the ebrake will hold the engine. The only puller to work is a Chrysler "installer" for harmonic dampers. free rental at your autozone.

Not the link does say "installer" but at least they finally change the description in puller...

I heated the bolt with my heat gun and used a loaner Chrysler puller from AutoZone. My stubby impact gun fit between the bolt and radiator and pulled the pulley right off with the car on stands and in neutral.
