I have the same problem the engine revs so fast going from first to second you have to shift sooner or it will hit the rev limiter. It seems that the manuals have the rev limiter cut the fuel to the engine. My wife's is a auto and hers just sputters when I hit the rev limiter.I found out when I shift from 1st to second I have to shift when tach is at 6500 or less and it doesn't cut out.You just have to practice different shift points till you find the right rpm. It took me awhile to figure it out and I still hit the limiter sometimes but I'm getting better.Ive never had a manual that is so touchy between 1st and second. All the other shifts there's no problem.

Do the 5th gens do this? Or, is this just a problem with the 6th gen?

When I shift mine, I can get to 7K rpms before the rev limiter kicks in.

Bumping this thread up so I don’t have to start a new one. This has been happening to me too. What the hell. I’m shifting well before 6500 rpms and the engine cuts out

Take your foot off the clutch pedal. If you so much as make the slightest touch on the pedal with your foot the car will cut power.

thanks for the response, my style when shifting is that i always have the clutch depressed a tad when shifting aggressively, so that i can get to the engagement point smoother. In fact i wanna say thats how i always drive, I never come all the way out of it

Reviving this thread because I had a similar issue but recently I found out it could be the no lift shift feature that's causing the issues. If I don't lift off the gas and let the no lift shift feature do it's thing it's perfect, but if I forget and do lift the throttle when shifting close to redline sometimes I get that abrupt fuel cut

Yep, don't not even breath on the clutch pedal or the compy will shut you down. You can tach it out, just have to stomp on the clutch pedal. Do not rest your foot on it.

Interesting reading. I've been having the same 1-2 shift issue, but never noticed it until I had a supercharger installed. I'm guessing that the additional power amplified the effect. I have the Tremec M6 and figured it was the weak factory clutch slipping (so I dropped it at Spec clutch to develop a twin disc unit). Will have to pay more attention to the clutch pedal when I get it back.
