porkiness, i dont mind the width of the new camaro, but the length is a lil big. this car really needed to be 3500lbs or less not 3800+. gm has the technology, they have the smarts to make things lighter. the money will come. quality of quantity. you'll get quantity if u build quality.

Of course they could have. 100% I believe the 5thgen Camaro could have weighed 3500 lbs. But they would have had to use aluminum, Carbon fiber, and magnesium. The shoulders wouldn't be NEAR as dramatic, and the car would cost $60,000 or more.

hmmm.....

Considering the 2011 mustang out handles the Camaro on the skid pad and beats it down the quarter, I don't think the "log" rear axle is hurting it much.

Its lighter and has a solid axle, I would hope it would be able to take 1/10th off of a Camaro SS 1/4 mile time.

Nothing magical there.

While the performance would improve, my biggest issue with my Mustang is the size of the cabin compared to the Camaro. The Mustang feels like a two seater. If I wanted a two seater, I would have purchased a Vette. I have three daughters. A Vette doesn't cut it. Long winded way of saying that a smaller Camaro may sell more or may sell less units. They won't really know until they make a change.
I like constructive, intelligent posts.
