ZL1 tire wear

I just put the car up on the lift for winter storage and noticed the wear pattern on all four outer edges is less than half the tread depth than the inner at 2.25mm compared to 4.95mm on the inner. Sorry no tire depth gauge, had to use my calliper. Can someone please chime in on what this indicates so I have a bit of knowledge for when I go for wheel alignment come spring. First picture is front. Not sure if Eagle F1-3 are designed with gradient tread depth or not? Seems odd All four tires are wearing the same.

Did you check the depth at the dimples or between the tread blocks? The dimples at the edge tread blocks are for checking the depth. If you checked the outer depth between the outer block and the next row of blocks then that is not the correct place to gauge the depth.

Also, If you run the corners hard with the conservative factory alignment (camber) then the outer tread blocks will wear at a faster rate than the inner blocks. Keep your cold tire pressures at 32 or even slightly higher. I’d say if the car drives nice and straight and the steering wheel is centered when driving in a straight line, you’re good. While these cars demand alignment perfection, if all four are wearing consistently and the car is driving great, the alignment is probably good.

Us guys who track our Camaros with these Goodyear 3s will run them clear down to the cords. They are fast throughout their lifespan. On the way to that point, that first tread channel between the outer block and the next one will completely go away. If you drive in wet conditions this obviously won’t be a good choice as the wet performance degrades quickly as these tires wear.

Dimples look like a roadworthy cheat to get around tread depth requirements?

My alignment was off from the factory. I went to get the rear backup sensor chip fitted and they took care of it under warranty.

The outter most blocks of tread and their tread depth are a little misleading. Goodyear put a lot of meat out there for track duty. You can wear them down to they're basically a slick on that area of the tire, but there's still plenty of life left. It's the wear indicators you have to judge it by.
