Tied down for a trip to the dyno!
Note: For those that are new to towing race cars, always make an "X" with your straps (front and back). Last edited by gump; 09-24-2018 at 12:06 PM. |

I finally weighed the car with the cage installed. This is with a full tank of gas (3600 lbs).

The modifications have begun!! It took about 4.5 hours to get the old exhaust off. No drama. Both manifolds came out through the top.
We are using the Chevrolet Performance/ARH headers (Part Number CAV8-161783000LSNC) and Chevrolet Performance exhaust kit (Part Number 84028865). The mid pipes came from American Racing Headers. |

I just installed the passenger side header. Thirty seven minutes from start to finish. It went in from the top after a few items, including the starter, were moved out of the way.
I like to use a little of this stuff on all the fasteners that are going into aluminum. |

After work yesterday I installed the driver side header. The work was a little more involved and took almost three hours to complete. Once again, the fit is very good.
(DISREGARD THIS. JUMP TO POST #81 FOR A FASTER WAY!!) The motor mount has to come out. This one item took the majority of my time. There are four bolts that attach it to the block. Three are easy to get to. The last requires extreme patience to remove and install. But, I am living proof that it can be done! The steering shaft also had to be removed. It is pretty easy to work with. The main thing is to not move anything when you have the shaft out. It is possible to miss align the clocking mechanism for the air bags. So, care has to be taken here. Last edited by gump; 06-22-2020 at 02:14 PM. |

I would consider installing the BMR tubular motor mounts. Save about 8 lbs and more room for the headers. Matt installed mine today when he put the new motor in. .

Obviously, I have added safety equipment and removed items that most would not. This is a test car that will see a lot of changes. So, a lot of these deletes just make life easier for me when I am working on the car. Last edited by gump; 10-28-2018 at 08:09 AM. |

The exhaust is in! I am looking forward to getting back on the dyno. The installation was pretty easy and took about an hour. The car sounds much better!!
The Chevrolet Performance mufflers require a special mid pipe. Make sure you specify exactly which mufflers you have when placing your order with ARH. These are side-by-side images showing the difference. |
