Exhaust db

I have a zle with 2" kooks, green cats, 3" x pipe and stock suitcase muffler. I am looking at doing a track day at ncm with a max decibel of 103db at 50'. Can anyone with a similar set up give me an idea of max db I am making. Thanks.

My 100% stock ZLE makes well over 92 db even at ~3/4 throttle breaking sound booth 92 db limit repeatedly with high 90s at Laguna Seca (after 3 meatballs and weekend DQ, I switched numbers). With headers, green cats, etc you may be over 103, ZL1s are effing loud.

I had the same issue. I had to add a magnaflow X-Pipe muffler to get it down to meet ncm sound limit. Now it’s WOT off turn 3 with no problems. It will get it down 5 DBs easy. Do a lookup on the muffler as there are some nice posts with pics and part numbers.

They get loud with headers for sure. First car we ever had come back for the stock manifolds was a ZLE. It was just to loud with the Flowmaster catback.

Hmm... So I knew these cars get loud. Barber didn't have a problem with my car, but I'm not sure if they have the strict noise rules of ncm. I may just go to road Atlanta or Arista Motorsports park for my next track day.

Do you know if it's from the right side or left side of the car that they measure at ncm? Is it from the side or the back? I may do a quick check with the spl meter on my phone to see how close I am. Thanks again everyone.

I want to know this as well, in case I make some Laguna Pipes.

Thanks for the info. Going to have my fabricator cut off the outer tips and add a v band. I'll then be able to easily take off the tips and add the track pipes he's making.

So adding long tube headers with GESI green cats would significantly increase the decimal level over the stock exhaust system?

I’d like to know since I’ll be doing this in the fall, except I have magna flow 50 series mufflers for the track only, which so far is keeping me at 87 dB even with secondary cats removed.

I think he originally went with an off road system. With cats you're still going to be louder but not nearly as much.

The stock ZLE will not pass sound at Laguna unless you lift or have pipes. So there's no way headers and green cats will pass without similar mitigation.

Yikes! I didn't know that. We'll I'm glad I suck with the stock muffler. I thought about getting a meisterschaft and adding track diverter pipes, rethinking that idea. Going to try and get a db reading this weekend. I'll do the same after adding the track pipes.

I kept the stock muffler. With long tube headers the car put out 104-105 DBs.

Ugh, that's what I expected. I'll see this weekend if I can run a test. I'll keep y'all posted.
