Properly designed and installed bolt ins can be every bit as safe as a weld in. Weld ins can also puncture a floor.

That being said, either one is a death sentence in a street car driven without a helmet.

Point taken. My car is primarily a track car.

Thank you! Correct! I’d go a step further and say head restraint seat or device too. Someone was killed at Buttonwillow a couple years back in a caged race car after sliding into a flag tower pitched 90* sideways. VERY experienced driver too. Caged car. Racing seat. But that side impact is not neck friendly.

I have the RaceTech..... I think it’s the 4119. LOVVVVVEEEE IT. And feel very safe in it.

I've got an RPM bolt in rollbar. Foot pads and sandwich plates are well designed but I agree about punch-thru risk especially where they bolt into the wheel wells. The floor mounting point it utilizes seems pretty robust, wheel well, not so much.

I just ordered a RPM rollbar too. Hopefully none of our concerns ever come into play..

Would the RPM be practical to install/remove as needed on a Vert for HPDE events?

Right. Have you completed your install? What would you expect the time frame to be on the Vert verses the coup? I honestly have not researched the removal process yet.

Are you going to try to mount a 5 or 6 point harness with the stock seat?

Now with the ZL1, I like the idea of a roll bar more and more. Though I wouldn't personally do it unless I could use a 5/6pt. harness in addition to a fixed back seat. My concern then has to do with the airbag system and tricking the car into believing the system is good to go despite the removal of the seat. Without all these, I have to wonder if the car would actually be less safe than if I had just left everything stock. Thoughts?

I also kind of like the idea of having a/c and heated seats in my track monster

I had the same thoughts and concerns, but in the end i decided to add the roll bar, racing seats and 6pt harnesses. Hopefully im making the right decision.
Here is the seat that I've gone with. It has removable halo sections, in case i want to drive on the street too.

That's a good idea. What seat mounts are you going with? Just going to handle the Airbag warning light all the time? I wonder if a simple resistor could mitigate the problem.
