It will take years to master the stick. Could be quicker with 2 hour lessons, 3 days a week for about 2 months. Should be ready to solo at that time. It will be a valued skill you can use for a lifetime.

I learned on my dads LS3. It is definitely a tricky clutch. I had a lot of trouble in the beginning but you get used to it and now it's like it's not even there. Also many people doubt teens with a fast car and I agree. When you take it out it is very tempting. I'm only 16 and the car is my dads. But trust me, it's not worth it. I know people with 5+ tickets and they don't drive because they can't afford 500 a month for insurance.

Best way to learn it is to buy a manual car. You will HAVE to learn it, lol.
Its fun, but can be a PITA in heavy traffic. But I think every driver should at least learn how to drive manual.

You'd better try a manual first before getting one and regretting it later.

Some people just are not coordinated enough to handle a manual (chew gum and walk at the same time?).

Once you do decide to get the manual, have someone else drive it home and teach you how the basics. Practice on an empty lot, preferrably one with slight inclines.

Good Luck, OP!

Good for you! It's hard to find someone your age with their head screwed on correctly. In my younger days I did a whole bunch of STUPID things in my car. Thank god it's only a dying 90HP Honda Civic. It's a miracle that I'm still alive.

Thank you! I agree I am in auto tech at my school and some kids there talk about driving fast and when we move cars around they always rev the 100,000 mile ford Taurus lol. I just don't see the point I guess and I'm happy with that lol. But when I was talking to my dad about getting a car I was looking at a used 4th gen because that's in my budget. But my dad mentioned I won't be happy unless I get a 5th gen. After I told him I couldnt afford it, all he said was "well we can work something out". I can't wait till spring lol
