In January I bought a 2010 2SS auto with 9300 miles and Foose rims for $23000 from a local Chevy dealer.

I purchased a 1LS because I wanted a stick and no leather or gauge pack. I got mine used in 2014 with 7500 miles for $16900. I put 3k down and have been paying off a four year loan at a very low rate for 1.5 years. I love my car and have no intentions of trading.
If I want to drive a V8 I can yank out my 91 RS 305 or my hubby's 1979 T/A with a 403 and the WS6 package. I'm pretty sure my little wimpy 6 would take the 1979 and no question destroy the 305. Just sayin.
I don't see "hate" here, simply some facts. The V6 is a great car if it's what you seek.
It appears someone is feeling a little insecure.

Honestly everyone, all cars depreciate. Some take a big hit and others do not and there is no way around it. Enjoy it as much as you can and move on to the next one.

V6 hate?uh...no. It is just that it's not a desirable car engine wise...same for most other brand's cars with a V6.Unless it was some super rare car then yeah it will fetch some bucks.Watch one of those auctions on TV and you'll see what I mean...they don't bring much money.

Nope, not insecure. Just unsure why everyone jumps to the conclusion that the 1LS is the least desirable of the litter.

That wasn't exactly my point. In general, no option/base model cars of any make and model aren't going to hold their value as well. I was questioning why you were surprised by this.. It wasn't a shot at you for buying a V6.

Last i checked the v8 lost 46% of its value after 5 years and the v6 lost 48%.

That was before the gen 6 came out so I am sure it is more for both models.

Guys... Been trying to tell ya... This happened with the Corvettes as well. At first, 6th gen vettes took a nose dive in value. Dealers had left over New ones, and a good amount of trades for the 7th gens.

As the New ones dried up, and less and less 6th gen trades were on the lot, prices creeped back up. This is a normal phase.. Problem is, GM was smarter with cutting back gen 6 production and the supply of new didn't last long. Gen 5 Camaros are plentiful on the lots (at least here in vegas) I mean PLENTIFUL. It will be awhile before they disappear. Once they do however, trade in values will go up, as they want to move New Gen 6, and have cheaper profitable Gen 5's on the lot for resale.

That's just how the market is. Relatively speaking, IMO I think the Camaro is doing better in terms of resale value. The previous generations were worth almost nothing after a few years.

Additionally, one would literally have to flip their cars after a year or two in order to not get burned by high depreciation.

I see a LOT of posts on Camaro5 about cars holding value or being more desirable because of a certain color or options package being more "rare". The simple facts are it's a used car. It's also a used car without a lot of demand. I can sit here and pretend my 2015 SW 1ss 1LE is rare and desirable all day long but it's still not going to make it worth any money on the market. People, new cars are not a good investment. Just buy what you want and what you like and deal with the fact that you're losing money on it.
