How are you guys tying down your ZLE on the trailer

I have a 2019 ZL1/1LE that I take to HPDE's. My previous track day car was a Z06, which have the frame slots for the T-hooks and straps. BUT, I guess GM didn't think we needed them on the ZLE, so I have been using the "over the tire" straps, tied down to the side of my open trailer. It works, but it is a pain in the butt because there is not enough room to fit my arm in the wheels wells to make sure the straps are securely behind the tire/rim, plus, if and when I pull my car onto the trailer after my last session to go home, the tires are hot as hell and it makes it even more fun to tie down. I just installed theZL1 Addons ZL1 tie down hooks on the car and was wondering if anybody else has used them and has either good or bad results... Does anybody tie down through the wheels ? I have heard that doing that can yank the car out of alignment.

I'm using the ZL1addons tiedown hooks for the front, and just running axle straps through the opening in the subframe in the rear. I haven't tried the zl1addon hooks for the rear yet.

Mac's Tie-Downs

I give these through-the-wheel straps the highest possible recommendation. Simply awesome. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use the ZL1 add-ons front and rear tow hooks and they seem to work fine. I have trailered at least 25 times with them and I've never had an issue. The rear hooks have rotated a little bit once or twice.

IMO the best and only way to tie down a vehicle on a car trailer is with E track and wheel straps if you are tying the vehicle down from the chassis or body you are compressing the suspension and putting bushings and other suspension components under stress or in a bind at all times while towing, with the wheel straps you are only holding the wheels down to the trailer surface and allowing the suspension to float and move as it would if the vehicle was being driven down the highway, all major car transport companies used this same method that has to tell you something right there.

I use the same setup... Mac's over the wheel straps to E-track.

The only thing is it's a PITA with an enclosed trailer... not a lot of room on either side of the car. And you need to make sure you have enough E-track to get the ratchet out from under the front/rear of the car.

We hauled our ZL1 about 5k miles last summer on a cross-country trip and never had any issues.

I would love to go the E-Track route, but I have an aluminum open trailer. I have heard steel on aluminum causes some kind of corrosion issues. Has anybody bolted the E-Tracks to their aluminum trailer. According to E-Track they recommend bolting to directly to the frame, but the frame is along the middle of the trailer...

I use straps about 1.5 feet long, axle straps, and rout them around the front sub-frame at the back of the sub frame in front of the back mounting point. Then run the front straps diagonally. On the rear, I run axle straps through the bracket that attaches the body to the rear sub frame in front of the rear tires tires. I had to remove the inner fender screw to this bracket for this to work. I run the straps diagonally also. This worked great for my last trip that was over 3000 miles. It is a pain to tie it down initially but east to undue. I have an aluminum trailer and I have to tie the car down towards the rear of the trailer for proper hitch weight. There is no room for the e tracks in my case.

I have a 18ft aluma trailer that I put etrack on. It was a bit tricky because I had to get longer bolts to get all the way through to the backing plates, but it's solid. You do get etrack prints on hot tires, but they go away after you warm them up again.
