Engine cuts out near 6k rpms

When i get on it and the car gets to anywhere from 5800 to 6200 rpms, the engine will cut out like i hit a rev limiter. Anybody else experiencing this?

If this is the norm, i am going to see if i can get this tuned out. I am not used to this. I can see that it is clearly an engine protection feature, but I am really disliking this.

It should rev up to 6400 before you run into any limiter, unless your left foot touches the clutch pedal, then NLS kicks in.

Thanks for the response Creep, but thats the thing, i ALWAYS have my foot on the clutch pedal when shifting, be it aggressive or not, that is how i hit the engagement point with ease

So is the car cutting with the clutch in or when you are just in gear and accelerating before you start your shift? Your foot shouldn't be on the clutch pedal at all until you start the shift.

when i am in gear and accelerating before i start my shift., it happened to me twice yesterday back to back. I think after reading the link above, because i had rev match on so it enables it. and when i do highway pulls i like to downshift using rev match (the only time i ever use rev match).

Is your foot resting on the clutch pedal during the acceleration?

Rev match doesn't enable the cut off. It appears that even an ever so slight pressure on the clutch pedal will trigger it. Keep your foot off the clutch pedal until ready to shift and you should be fine.

Thanks for this post as I had this happen once recently, I couldn't repeat it, and I had forgotten all about the clutch thing.

Yeah, not riding the clutch is a pretty good lesson overall.

You can't do that man, that's why it's cutting out. it's a safety feature built into the car. Keep your foot just off the pedal until you're ready to shift, then smash it, shift, and release fully until you're ready for your next gear shift. DON'T ride it, even slightly, or it's gonna keep happening to you.

I can promise you'll never experience the issue again if you stop resting your foot on the clutch.

can this feature be tuned out, still a pain in my butt, happened again on me, i just find it so awkward to come all the way out of the clutch when shifting, with my vette i always had it depressed at least half an inch or so with every shift
