Black hood wrap on regular SS

Hey everyone, I own a white 1SS and I find the look to be really plain and think the 1LE version of the white car looks far better. So I was just wondering if based on the general enthusiast opinion, is putting a black hood wrap on a non-1LE car dumb? Would it be like putting GT badges on an Ecoboost Mustang?

it's your car, so I think you should do it.

I have family that is doing wraps. he offered to wrap mine for just price of material. I'm doing it for the looks and to protect the hood.

I'd say go with satin if you do it or add something to it to make it unique, rather than just wrapping the hood.

The wrap is no more durable than paint; it chips and nicks just like the paint does - plus the hood color will show through if the chip doesn’t go through to the primer or bare metal. If you want real protection instead of a polka-dot hood (there’s no way to touch up the chips in the wrap), the wrap needs to be protected with a paint protection film like Xpel Stealth, which has a satin finish.

the wrap is durable on a scratch level. I don't expect much of anything to protect it from a biscuit rock thrown from an 18 wheeler at 80.

but from the stuff my car sees daily since it's not garaged, it'll be fine.

I'm not doing it specifically because of the protection, but I like the anti glare properties and the looks of the 1le hood.

Do whatever floats your boat. It's your Camaro. However, if you do wrap the hood or stripe your car, it does add 50hp... just ask any Mustang owner.

Just about anything black on white will look great!

My Krypton Green 2SS needed all the green broken up so instead of going with a flat/satin hood, mirrors, and spoiler... I went with high gloss carbon flash metallic(paint code 501Q).

Not quite the 1LE look, but inspired by it.

To touch up any rock chips in the wrap, just use plain flat black touch up paint. I used it on my white and silver Camaro's black satin stripes.

I used liquid Turtle Wax Ice Clear Polish to keep the stripes nice and black and satin looking.

Wait, what...I lost 50R WHP by removing the wrap? I peeled mine off within a couple hours of taking delivery, the car is black and I didn't care for the flat black on black look, that said it does look better on white and lighter colors. As others said do satin as the flat is next to impossible to keep clean. Also, keep in mind if you ever do change your mind the body panels will fade over time and the hood won't match if you do remove it.

I think the wrap looks nice on white cars, I'd go for it if you like it.

My car is NFG, been considering removing the wrap and putting XPEL Stealth on the hood in it's place. I think satin black might work best on light colored cars though.
