Can’t be any worse than the F3’s on a cold day, they suck. I would’ve liked the Bridgestone solution but they are vaporware currently and it’s getting cold here. Anyway, I’m out less money than the pair of “may/not fit” 295/35-20 Bridgestone fronts.

Noticed that under 60° the forward traction is all but gone.

Good to hear SLK86, mine have shipped and are arriving Tuesday, I got them on Amazon Prime so they'll pay the return shipping if I don't like them. I have some offshore tires on the Camry and they've been great so far, if they get me through to when the snow flies I'm good.

Any opinions on mixing the front RE970AS 285/30/20 and rear RE980 305/30/20?

MarC works for Bridgesone and he had a post that discussed mixing front and back. I think he actually used all seasons on the front and others on the rear. I also called Bridgestone with this question. They didn't really wanted to talk about it and wanted to push me to speak witht the "tire store" but after some time we had a good conversation. The 970 is apparently the older design but the tread pattern between the 970 and 980 are similar to the extent that is seemed like it would be OK. With all seasons we are not trying to set track records, I just want to be able to use my car. I don't want it to sit in the garage for 3 months so I think we need to manage our expectations but I am thinking about doing the same thing.

By the way. Sorry about all the typos and it's "MarkC" not "MarC"

I've had the 970s on the front and Potenza S001 in the rear pretty much since I got the car, both in stock sizes. Wet and cold traction much better than stockers, and they can still handle spirited driving just fine.

MarkC, to your knowledge, is there a best place to purchase Bridgestones, regarding availability? In other words, would Firestone have better availability than Discout tire, etc.?

FYI, the company owned tire stores are Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tiresplus, Hibdon, and Wheel Works. |
