Advice on Half Shafts and Drive Shaft

Looking to upgrade my Half Shafts and Drive Shaft. Need some advice from you seasoned drag racers. I have a 2018 SS 1LE. Because of the M6, there is a lot of pressure on the stock set up. Do I go aftermarket, or stock ZL1? What is a proven brand to go with? What will hold well with 550 hp at the wheels?

Save your $ and try to get the ZL1 DS

Aftermarket drivetrain prices are absurd

I am supercharged and an M6 with drag radials, this is what I have and have had no issues. I am however pulling the trans for a rebuild this weekend, something internal let go and doing a clutch while I am in there.

DSS axles (less expensive than Gforce)

Gforce aluminum drive shaft (I think they are the only ones who make a DS for M6, but I talked to Gforce yesterday and they are on hold making them because of supply issues and moving locations. Perhaps there is stock out there though)

Like @Jhunsberger, I’m also running the GForce aluminum shaft, but A8 instead. It’s been smooth as butter so far, but I’m nervous that maybe I should have went chrome moly instead. Just don’t know how long the aluminum will withstand high HP at the drag strip (not that I go very often).

The GForce Outlaw axles are pricey but worth it IMO since they upgrade the stubs and CV joints too. Otherwise you’re only as good as the weakest link IMO.

GM went 2 piece for a reason and that was to reduce transmission of drive-line vibrations. I would try a ZL1 drive shaft before I spent 1k on a 1 piece Aluminum. If this was basically a race car application then yea, for sure get a chromemoly... but for a street car that sees the track once or twice a year imo the ZL1 makes more sense.
