Tow Loop installation

I have a JDP tow hook to install on my 2010 SS.

The instructions, written specifically for Gen5, are for installation on the driver side. It would appear that the impact bar and grille are symmetrical so the tow hook could just as easily go on the passenger side.

I've noticed that while most race cars have their tow hooks on the passenger side, a significant minority have them on the driver side.

Thoughts? Thanks.

one side is as good as the other. The only difference I can think of is if the hook is on the passenger side it provides a view past the tow vehicle.

On my 15 there is a plug on the passenger side bumper cover. This provides access to the bumper support. I installed a stock GM (European) bumper support that has a threaded insert for the tow hook.

Unfortunately, there's no tow hook receiver in the 2010, nor is there a removable plug in the fascia or grille.

When did GM start putting these features on American cars, I wonder? My 2016 Trax has them.

I think 2014 is when they started doing this, could be wrong though.

I put the tow hook on the drivers side on mine, it fit better on that side for whatever reason.

Passenger side for me. Used a strong magnet to hold it while I checked with the fascia. Took me a few times (fascia on/off) to get it set in the right place. I chose the grill slot closer to middle.
