Expected change in value of 5th gens when 6th gen comes out

What's everyone's thoughts on this? Do you guys think the 6th gen coming out will cause a rise in the value of the 5th gens or a fall? I know when the latest gen WRX came out, the value of the last gen ones went up as people bought them up.

Judging by posts on the Gen 6 threads, many people are worried that the new Camaro will look like Gen 5 - 2.0 and threaten to hang onto their Gen 5's. If this plays out trade in value will hold or go up. If the new Gen is sleeker not good, I really like my Gen 5, so If I don't get a good trade in deal so be it I am happy, if I get a good trade in then great I am happy to get a Gen 6. A good deal is when both parties walk away happy.

Value of 5th Gens will hit the ground just as the values did and continue for the 4th Gen's.

Take it for me, when the new 6th gen hits (lt1 v8) we are gunna plummet and hard too. I am without a doubt selling mine before the summer so my hit wont be so bad (mine is also paid for). Look at the lt1's value (93-97) when the ls1's hit in late 97 (i was not old enough to remeber pricing) but know they tanked in value, same with the 5.7 gto when the 6.0 came out.

I'm not really worried about the value or what comes out and I'm very happy with what I got. In the past I bought a new '81 Z28, the last year of Gen 2. I was so glad I did because, I hated that crossfire injection that started with Gen 3. I outran many Gen 3's and I preferred the looks of my car. I had that car for about 10 years, sold it at a good price and bought my first truck for cash.

My '10 SS which is still in near perfect condition , is worth about $20,000 w/sale now.
It will always be worth at least $10,000, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Definitely an increase in value among 5th gens! I can't see no less than their weight in platinum! Lmfao!

Here is a question, look at the new Mustang. I have yet to see a '15 model in person, but from the pictures, I prefer the S197. What is going on with their values?

The LS platform is widely popular with lots of parts support. It will take the new LT platform a bit to get there if it does. Some engines just lend themselves to modding better e.g. SBC, LS others not so much.

Resale will start dropping on Gen Vs just because a lot are falling out of warranty. If the Gen VI is as wildly popular as the Gen V was, prices will go down a lot. However, I doubt you will see that kind of response given the circumstance that drove the production of the Gen V are not present with the Gen VI.

It will be a very long time before Gen 5 has collector value.

I think my 2010 will take a big hit in market value with its old school radio. Well, at least it's late 2010 so it has back-up sensors.

The creature comforts and safety feature continue to improve. I wish my Camaro SS had all the bells and whistles that are in my wife's 2014 Equinox LTZ.

Ask that question in like 25 years, if you bought it for an investment I hope you parked it, covered it and are very patient.

Electronics are the first thing on a car that gets dated. No matter what bells and whistles you have, there will be better bells and whistles five years from now. Wait until USB is no longer popular. Your kids will look at those ports like an eight track tape player.

I hope the value decreases so it will be even cheaper to buy a used 5gen ZL1! Assuming there is a 6gen ZL1...

Great question I have been thinking about this myself as I want to make the jump to an LE eventually. Here are my thoughts: I think the only change is going to be supply and demand. The sad truth is most people are buying muscle cars for their looks. When newer versions of these cars come out a percentage of those people are going to want to upgrade to a newer model (whether it's a camaro, a mustang or BMW). An increase in depreciation is going to depend on how many people jump ship. Unforchantly, your car is only worth what someone will pay for it. If there are ten other used camaro's on the lot suddenly the demand for your car is gone. And a dealer doesn't want 11 used Camaro's on his lot so when the next guy walks in looking to trade the dealer is going to low-ball him. This is what will drive the price of our cars down.
