I can tell you that as good as the LSx engine sounds, nothing and I mean NOTHING has that unmistakable sound of the old 5.0L HO and 4.6L Mustangs. Borla S-type or Magnaflow Magnapacks were one of the most beautiful sounds to ever emanate from the exhaust of any car imo combined with an O/R x-pipe. My old 3V made the most glorious sound ever with the custom exhaust I had fabricated for it. You could hear how it sounded like a cross between the 2v and 4V. Camaro does sound good, very good. But to me, the old 4th Gen sound better. You could tell right away by the sound alone it was a F-body approaching. Camaro sounds exactly like the Vette and GTO, not a bad thing, but just doesn't have that "Camaro" sound I used to know back in the LS1 days. Both great cars in their own right and the S197 is far from a POS. Boss 302 is on that platform and we all know it is one of the best handling cars made, live axle or not. Congrats on your search for finding "the one".

imho the coyote is shite.
no power untill u hit almost red line..sounds weak and is weak..ok it is powerful at red line..but day to day driving that's meaningless..ls motor is way way better in everyway.
i drove 400 miles in the camaro to collect the mustang..soon as i got in it it felt weak as hell.
another maro is coming my way asap..soon as i find the right car and deal

Yes I would agree that it may have been a mistake. Sometimes we choose the wrong things. Luckily this is a correctable mistake.

OP, for more encouragement ... did you see the "Car and Driver" Test Specs December 2015 Camaro SS VS Mustang GT. New Gen Mustang and Camaro?
And the Mustang even had the $2,500 track pack PP option.

Camaro ------- Mustang
6.2 Liter ------ 5.0 Liter
455 HP ------- 435 HP
455 Torque -- 400 Torque (WOW not even close!!!)
8.3 lb/hp ----- 8.8 lb/hp
0.98 g -------- 0.94g skidpad (1LE difference would be even more impressive)
3.9 0-60 ------ 4.4 0-60
25.1 0-150 --- 29.0 0-150

Amazing there is a 4 second difference in the Zero to 150 times, that is huge.
Camaro Braking 70-0 in 147 feet vs 157 for Mustang.

And the factory NPP sound is WAY better ... Full Throttle 91 dba for Camaro versus anemic 84 dba for Mustang (as the saying goes, the Camaro engine is a much bigger air pump so it starts out with an advantage). Mustang is faster returning to the gas station, it only has a 16 gallon fuel tank compared to 19 for Camaro, added plus did 1 mpg higher in that test's 700 mile trip. Chevy should post this on all Dealers's doors. ;-)

Before buying my 1LE, I had this exhaustive list of potential car buys, and the Mustang PP was near the top of the list.

Drove it, thought the motor and brakes were pretty great, but the rest of the car wasn't confidence inspiring. Very nice interior as well.

Still, I am positive I made the correct decision as far as what I wanted in a car. I like both Mustangs and Camaros, I just like one a bit more

ford need to drop that 5.0
make it a bigger cubic..having a high reving motor is ok on a race track..but as a dd it's rubbish.
the mustang is a nice car and i think is faster than the l99 maro..but u have to work the motor so damn hard.
reminds of why i refuse to own a 600cc sports bike compared to a 1000..600 is fast but u have to wring it's neck..where as the 1000 u just touch the gas and bang.

Thanks for sharing your story. It helped solidify my decision. I really liked the styling of the new mustangs and considered going with it but because of the cost and the fact that I'm a Chevy guy, I went with a 5th gen.

Hopefully you will get back into a Camaro soon bro!

Actually, we all should be grateful for the Mustang. If it wasn't for the Mustang, there would be no Camaro. Just saying....
You have to understand that drew (or is it r***** h*****?) hates the S197 Mustangs with a passion that matches or possibly exceeds thePill's hatred for Camaros. The S550 was handicapped from the get-go here.

Mustang GT's and up sound amazing straight from factory. All 3 of the big muscle/pony players have their pros and cons and the power/sound is a pro for all of them. I still believe the 5th and 6th gen Camaros come out on top appearance wise.

the 2003, 2004 Cobras were beasts. hand build engines that with a pulley and a few mods made HUGE power. I remember they dynoed 380 RWHP stock which was more than the Corvette Z06 at the time. Plus I think they also got independent rear suspension.

Had a triple black coyote pass by me while walking the dogs. He got on it and while it was an interesting sound someone needed to remove the potatoes from his exhaust pipes. Mopar has no problem making the hemi sound good even in the trucks so Ford has no excuse.
