Will I need an alignment?
Hey all, so I have the parts I need to put a new 2012 sway bar onto my 2010 Camaro SS, but I am wondering if I'm going to need a new alignment since I am replacing the lower control arms.
Yes or no?

maybe...depends on what the alignment is like now...how much wear..etc...biggest deal is makin sure BEFORE tighten bolts for final time is need to have car sittin on all 4 wheels to make sure the suspension settles otherwise it will be f*d when the bushing clocking is off....
when I got my 2010 I had a 4 wheel done at a local shop owned by race car owner/drivers...they set the alignment perfectly and when I replaced my sub-frame bushings and trailing arms...everything was spot on... where did you end up in the DC area? and shame on you for questioning dynoSteves tune....lol..seriously get ur butt to Mason Dixon on the 3rd...if you are wanting to go fast that is! peace...

Since you are replacing your Lower Control Arms, I would say yes. It's too easy to mess up your Camber and then you would be buying new tires.

Not super thrilled with that though. :(

Your talking rear lower control arms correct? I don't believe there is any eccentric bolts on that particular link.

Alignments are cheap.

I already have lifetime alignments through Firestone, but it's dropping the car off and picking it up that's the hassle.

Yes get the alignment IMO because you changed some key components. Also, did you "time" the bushings? Ie, jack up the suspension before torquing down on the bolts for the lower control arms and sway bar.

I haven't done anything yet. It's been raining since forever and I'm waiting for it to clear up.
Also, I have 1LE shocks/struts ready to go on, so I figure I might as well install it all when I do the sway bar.

I was crawling around under mine this morning and the LCA inboard mount is eccentric bolt so you'll need one for sure.

You can get close with marking the eccentric to the fixed area on the eccentric fences. Having said that, we always align a car after suspension work is done. Go to this link and print out the pages for your alignment tech to follow.

Alignment
Quote:
Hi Pete, I went to your page the one above with the alignment charts. I'm going to run skinnies up front and 305/45-17 MT in the rear. I have a 2010 SS with BMR Toe rods & BMR Trailing arms. Which alignment would apply? The one all the way to the right on the FE2/FE3 Chart? |
