Yep, exactly. My 2018 pops once or twice on decel, just to say hello, and doesn't do any of the crazy crackle show the 2019+ GM factory tune unleashed. (Mine is tuned by Ted Jannetty, but it was decent even in stock form.)

My 22 1LE snaps, crackles and pops quite a bit on deceleration in Sport and Track modes, especially in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. Personally I like it. It definitely gets people's attention. My 23 ZL1 in comparison pops once or twice on decel and with not near as much vigor as my 1LE while in Sport and Track modes. I attribute some of the differences to the supercharged engine versus an NA engine.

Yep I think that’s it. The LT4 has a lower compression ratio than the LT1 which might make a difference.

I love the way my babies pop and sometimes I go out of my way to do it even in full auto.

If people don’t like it that makes it even more fun

Same here much easier for the SS to pop than the ZL1 but they’ll both do it

I enjoy a good crackle and pop when I hear it from someone else's car. But what miniscule understanding I have about engine's tells me those noises aren't necessarily good sounds and I figure that's why your tuner's take it out. I'm sure Chevy made sure it was inside of the tolerances of the engine, but if they're manipulating the frenquency of "backfire's and preignition", that's gotta be a marketing strategy, don't you think?

Easy to enable/disable in the tune. Under DFCO fueling.

This wasnt a thing pre 2019 camaro.

I agree 100%. My C7s with the same engine never did this. When I heard it on the '24 SS I initially wondered if something was wrong. I definitely wish there was a setting to turn it off. Going to stealth on the NPP doesn't stop it, but it does make it quieter.

This thread is going in the exact opposite direction I would've predicted.
I remember when the 2019's came out, and everybody wanted to know how to get their earlier year to pop more!

Haha, those people already got their wish back then in the "tune analysis" thread, so now the other camp is more vocal

It does sound loud, almost like a backfire at times since I put the MBRP axle back on it.

I got rid of the NPP and replaced it with an MBRP axle back, so I would assume stealth mode would have no bearing on the noise.

While I somewhat agree with your sentiment, the shotgun blasts can be a bit rediculous. I honestly wouldn’t blame those that are annoyed by them to throw their hands in the air and tune them out. Chevy should have simply added a software setting to de tune them.

That said, the 19+ LT1 engine does it way more than any year LT4 or 16-18 LT1.

I spent good $ for an axle back, that I wouldn’t have otherwise, just so I could enjoy getting on the gas without sounding like an obnoxious menace. Now I just sound like a menace
