Full Power

Can anyone point me to the thread about the ZL1 feeling like it's not making full power? I know I remember reading it, but the search function keeps errorring out.

I just completed break in, changed the oil and was ready to feel the power but it doesn't really feel like 650/650. Prior to break in I wasn't beyond 4k RPM, so I was itching to get in the power band. I'm sure it pulls harder so just wondering if something is missing, maybe a setting or perhaps it's in a mode that needs to be turned off? Not really sure.

Edit* all sorted out

I dont think its a peaky engine... neither is the LT1... it doesn't come on the cam like a voodoo... just keeps pulling at a steady pace... maybe the tall gearing takes away from the frenetic feeling also.

Finally, if you did a very very gentle break-in then it's going to take more time for the engine to loosen up.

Try adding Zmax oil additive, it can help... (Carroll Shelby swore by it ...)

How about trying a few 0-60 and 0-100 or 1/4 miles run using the included performance timer to allay your fears, hopefully you're not way off. Try pressing TC button twice and then go to sport setting, that will give you intermediate setting so TC doesn't kick in aggressively.

I raced mine for first time this weekend. It was frustrating on the drag strip for me, personally. I ran with "nannies " to get a pass or 2 in. Then trying to disable to get the 60ft times down, well, I'm not used to a lot of tech. I've been used to my SS396, that's my background. I finally realized I wasn't holding down TC full 10sec. Also, car likes to bog if you don't get rpms up on launch. There's lots of talk about this in 1/4 forums. I have no autox experience. But some good folks do. There's a gentleman named Cal Webster who has 1/4m experience with hisM6 . He has some very detailed threads and vids on YouTube. There's others also but his is great imo. Its going to take a lot of practice for me as well with this car to figure out what I need to do. Good luck to you, know your limits.
