2017 ZL1 with Manual Transmission - Will you buy one again?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a 2017 ZL1 equipped with Manual Transmission, but reading about the issues related to the Bogging when launching the car make me worried (Launching normally and when hard accelerating). Is this issue really bad as the threads makes it look like? Does is it affect the daily driving of this car? I will drive this car daily and don't want to look stupid bogging this car all over the place like i just started driving a manual car.

Will you buy this car again when currently you know about this issue? please I your honest experience/opinion not biased.

Thanks

I had a 15 ZL1 manual which had the same bogging issue, I have not "yet" noticed the bogging issue on my 18 ZL1 1LE with the little driving I have done.

As I mainly drive my car on the streets, It's rare for me to do a hard launch. As you can see I did buy another manual ZL1 with no hesitation.

My question to you is what are your plans with the ZL1? It sounds to me like you plan to drag the car or race it on the streets... If that's your primary concern get the A10.

The A10 is best suited for anyone who plans to drag or be doing a lot of hard launches with the car.

There's a consensus that the Mamo ported throttle body helps improve throttle response. Maybe some people who've installed it will chime in. If you want a manual car, then I'd get one.

I feel like I just got lucky because I haven't had any issues in "normal" driving at all. Just recently got done with the break in and haven't tried launching it like at the strip so I can't comment on that as of yet.

I have the MAMO TB. It fixes the lag.

I absolutely would buy the manual ZL1 again.

I had some bogging when I initially bought the car. It occurred mostly when starting out from a cold start. Once I passed the break-in period and got more experience with the car, the bogging pretty much disappeared in normal driving.

I really believe the bogging at launch is related to an overly sensitive safety sensor in the clutch pedal. See post #168 in this thread for an explanation.

Just the slightest pressure on the clutch pedal seems to cause the car to bog. You definitely can't ride the clutch in this car.

I would hands down buy this car again with the Manual Transmission. I agree, the clutch engagement takes some time to learn, but once you do it's fantastic. I can't comment on launching the car because I haven't done that. I have driven on many back roads, to Tahoe through the Mountains, etc. and it's awesome.

I think the clutch is responsible for the cars poor performance in the 2017 drag race. It literally gets left on the line.

Ya I would even though I have some boggin on light starts not full out racing and the ever so annoying revving by itself.. I bet a custom tune would fix that because i see none on my wife's Supercharged 2016 SS.. I can't wait til I get a Borla exhaust so the rev match is amplified to the 10x mark!

I don’t drag race, as the ZL1 wasn’t designed for it (but surely can with some mods), so the M6 serves my purpose perfectly. Some driving time and practice and the clutch bogging is no longer an issue. For serious use I’d never consider any other transmission. Trans temps are always stable no matter how hard the car gets pushed. I also only drive it on weekends or track events so it’s not a daily.

If I had to daily drive it with city traffic I would get the A10.

M6 all over again, it’s too much fun, nice click action, nice rev match and just plain awesome.

M6 all they for me... Ton of fun, always engaged... But that's just my preference. With all I've read about the A10 , I can understand how it can be appealing. If you really enjoy driving manual then that,s the only choice. My S4 daily driver is a manual and traffic doesn't bother me in the least.

The M6 in this car is the best stock manual I've owned thus far. I would absolutely buy it in this form again.
