Try Competition Mode in Track Mode!
I know most of you probably already know this, but if you don't, try competition mode in track mode for IMMEDIATE throttle response (my car is A8)! It has to be in track mode, even using competition mode in sport mode will give you a significant lag.
Just try a 35MPH second gear WOT pull, it's almost an entire second delay in sport but instant in track. It's also not just the lag, but some difference in power delivery. In sport, first it's the one second delay, then the power comes, but kind of gradual and soft, it's like you can feel the torque builds up from 300 lb-ft to 455 lb-ft in half a second, but in track, bang, all the 455 lb-ft the moment you floor it. Just started daily driving with competition mode and discovered this, try it if you haven't already and were not satisfied about throttle response of this car like I did! |

Very interesting. I figured in track it would be more gradual. Will definitely try it, thanks.

Yes in track the throttle mapping is more linear than sport, but if you floor it, it's 100% in either mode, while in sport you still have to go through the one second delay and the half second torque gradual build up (less punchy than track), so a WOT pull will definitely reveal the difference for you!

This is in a standard SS?
If you hold the button down in Track in a 1LE/ZL1, you enter PTM modes. Track has a different throttle mapping than sport. So that may be what you are feeling. BTW - due to feedback from Randy Probst while the 1LE was being reviewed, the throttle mapping in Track was revised by the Camaro team. He complained that the original map was an on/off switch and it was hard to modulate corner exit. The team changed it and now the Track throttle is much more linear.

Yes. My 2016 2SS will go into comp mode. You put it in Track, then double tap the Stabilitrac button on the console. The DIC flashes a message that says Competition Mode or something similar (it's been awhile since I've done it).
That's what makes launch control available. Once in LC, you can hold the brake firmly and jam go-pedal to the floor, it will then rev to 2000 and hold it until you release the brake. You have to jam the pedal quickly too, if you slowly depress it, LC will not function and you'll just overcome the rear brakes at some point and spin the wheels. On 2019 and newer, you can program that stall speed to other than 2000 (+/-), but 16-18 it's not changeable.

Yeah the difference is competition mode. Or full stabilitrack off is quite fun as well, just be mindful of everyone around you.

Yes, it's available on all V8 cars. From page 232 in my 2016 owners manual: Competitive Driving Mode and Launch Control are systems designed to allow increased performance while accelerating and/ or cornering. This is accomplished by regulating and optimizing the engine, brakes, and suspension performance. These modes are for use at a closed course race track and are not intended for use on public roads. They will not compensate for a driver’s inexperience or lack of familiarity with the race track. Drivers who prefer to allow the system to have more control of the engine, brakes, and suspension are advised to turn the normal TCS and StabiliTrak systems on. Caution Attempting to shift when the drive wheels are spinning and do not have traction may cause damage to the transmission. Damage caused by misuse of the vehicle is not covered by the vehicle warranty. Do not attempt to shift when the drive wheels do not have traction. Competitive Driving Mode (V8 Only) Competitive Driving Mode allows full engine power while the StabiliTrak system helps maintain directional control of the vehicle by selective brake application. In this mode, TCS is off and Launch Control is available. Adjust your driving style to account for the available engine power. See “Launch Control” later in this section. This optional handling mode can be selected by pressing the TCS/ StabiliTrak button on the console two times. The appropriate message displays in the Driver Information Center (DIC). See Ride Control System Messages p 136. When the TCS/StabiliTrak button is pressed again, the TCS and StabiliTrak systems are on. The appropriate message displays briefly in the DIC. Launch Control A Launch Control feature is available, within Competitive Driving Mode, to allow the driver to achieve high levels of vehicle acceleration in a straight line. Launch Control is a form of traction control that manages tire spin while launching the vehicle. This feature is intended for use during closed course race events where consistent zero to sixty and quarter mile times are desirable. Launch Control is only available when the following criteria are met: . Competitive Driving Mode is selected. . The vehicle is not moving. . The steering wheel is pointing straight. Manual Transmissions . The clutch is pressed and the vehicle is in 1 (First) gear. . The accelerator pedal is rapidly applied to wide open throttle. The Launch Control feature will initially limit engine speed as the driver rapidly applies the accelerator pedal to wide open throttle. Allow the engine rpm to stabilize. A smooth, quick release of the clutch, while maintaining the fully pressed accelerator pedal, will manage wheel slip. Complete shifts are described in Manual Transmission p 221. Automatic Transmissions . The brake pedal must be firmly pressed to the floor, equivalent to a panic brake event. . The accelerator pedal is rapidly applied to wide open throttle. (If the vehicle rolls due to wide open throttle, release the throttle, press the brake pedal more firmly, and re-apply the accelerator to wide open throttle.) After the vehicle is launched, the system continues in Competitive Driving Mode. Competitive Driving Mode and Launch Control are systems designed for a closed course race track and not intended for use on public roads. The systems are not intended to compensate for lack of driver experience or familiarity with the race track.
