New to us, 2015 Summit White #698 (A/C) came home yesterday and we love it!
Gotta confess, I'd never seen one in person before picking it up yesterday. The car is better looking in real life than imagined or than pictures can show. More importantly, the wife loves it more in person. Guess now I can change my avatar story... Still recovering from knee replacement surgery, I've been patiently looking and waiting for things to happen. Within the last week, I found a 1 owner car at a dealership who originally sold and serviced the car, 6000 miles on her now. All original and well maintained, she still has the original tires, it would seem, with a 2514 date code all around. Wife located a 1 way airline ticket from Denver to Albuquerque for $24 (not a typo) and the deal was on the way. Flew in late on Tuesday for a Wednesday deal. Felt really good about things when I was assigned Room #427 at the local hotel. Got back just in time yesterday before Winter showed up today. Like it was meant to happen. A couple of observations and questions: Loved the "Honda Accord" feel to the clutch - expecting something much heavier. Very easy and smooth, an added benefit since I'm only 5 weeks out of surgery. Love how the car is a beast, but mild mannered if you need/want it to be. Could be a bit louder, but I'm sure that can be rectified. Not used to such a high-revving car. Thought I could use one more gear at highway speeds, or a different drive ratio, but that's just an impression thus far. Enjoyed having a hot-rod with cup-holders and cruise-control. Sometimes it's the simple things. Still looking for your input on 3-season'ish replacement tires. Looking to stay with the stock size, and they need to perform in questionable weather that I'll experience in Colorado. Looking to daily drive this car when weather permits, but she'll also be visiting the track a couple of times a year if possible. Amazing to me how little is known about this car to the masses. Virtually none of my many car-guy friends had any idea about this car, for some reason - even a guy who owns a 68 Z/28 and a Gen 5 Camaro. Fascinating the questions and looks I got from them when I revealed my intentions of buying a Z/28, and what options that would include. I guess I'm lucky to have been following them since their brief re-appearance. Happy to be the next custodian of this vehicle, she'll be loved and well cared for. Thanks for entertaining all of my pre-purchase dumb questions. |

Congrats and enjoy!
RE11s here but not sure I would call them 3 season. Not sure what three season is but in PA we have two, driving season and winter. |

Anything beyond summer tires are a weak compromise for track/competition purposes. Best solution is to get a second set of wheels, and mount a set of wet/road tires on them; leave the Trofeos on the original wheels for track use. Several threads on tires and/or wheels in the forum. OEM wheels can still be found at some dealers/parts outlets. Other vendors are out there in a range of prices (Forgestar, for example). OEM wheels turn up used (with varying degrees of wear) on the forum, as well.
Welcome and Enjoy! |

Welcome your car looks great! Tires I would go with Michelin PS4S - it will be good for two seasons and the track - will be better than trofeo's in other seasons, but still not great.

Congratulations on the new Z/28 and welcome. Take your time thinking of what you want to do with the car, she is a beauty.

Welcome to the club. I second the idea to get a track set of wheels and tires. I run MPSS's all year (in Virginia) and have a second set of OEM wheels with Trofeo's for the track.
Best car I've ever owned. You will love it.

Congrats on your purchase. I switched out my dry rotted Trofeos with Continental extreme contact sports. I would call them three season tires and they feel great. I second the separate track tire option. You can pull the fuse in the trunk for the exhaust, it will make a big difference.

I put MPS4S tires on my daily driver Z/28 and I love those tires. They totally change the car for daily driving. They grip fantastic when cold. But, you cannot use those tires on the track, except maybe autocross. I do not track my Z/28.
