LT header install help

I'm finishing up my long tubes installation and have issues with reinstalling spark plugs.

The plug wires are touching the header pipes, is this normal?

Yes, its usually always that same one that touches. No big deal. I actually shaved a bit of the the boot on mine off, but that was after 2 years of touching the header with no issues.

The plugs for the next one seem to be touching as well.

I didn't look when I pulled them initially but does it look like they are not all the way in? I have tried to push them in snug but maybe they need to go in more?

If I remember correctly, when I had 1-7/8" Kooks, the stock wires did not touch the primaries. I have 2" Kooks now with aftermarket wires and boots and would not risk it with the stock wires. Those stock wires are not easy getting on and off the plugs either, so make sure that they are actually all the way on.

Could always go with some aftermarket wires. My factory wires were to close for my comfort when I installed my LTH's, so I purchased some Granatelli wires, and there clearance is a lot better.

Those wires don't look like they're fully seated. Did you hear/feel them click on to the plugs?

What brand of headers are those? None of mine were touching, although a couple were fairly close. Maybe within a 1/4".

I have Kooks 1 7/8 and my OEM wires do not touch the headers. All the plug wires are the same size and it doesn't matter which one goes on which plug. You just have to make sure they are angled & spaced on there just so. And when you are pushing them on you can hear them snap on and set correctly.

These are speed engineering headers. More pics attached. Nevermind the dipstick - that's been a nightmare

I will get some plug wrenches and see if that helps. Anyone have pictures of theirs for reference?

Mine (TSP 1-7/8") don't touch and I've never heard anybody say that's okay. Plug wires do melt. If the rubber boots are pushed all the way in until they click, I'd contact the manufacturer and ask them about it.

Got my plugs in more tightly, they seem to be clearing the header pipes now.

That being said, I think i'll swap them for some aftermarket ones. Any suggestions?

My car has Taylor wires. MSD and Granatelli are some good name brands also.

Use Taylor wires and a heat boot, they shouldn't be touching the header
